On Saturday, September 28, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) handle for the series shared a teaser visual and an announcement PV to confirm the production of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End season 2. Madhouse studios will continue to be in charge of the sequel's production. However, no release date was announced.

The teaser visual for Frieren: Beyond Journey's End season 2 depicts Frieren's bag, Stark's axe, Fern's staff, and the trio's shadows. Undoubtedly, the illustration evokes the concept that Frieren's journey is far from over and that they momentarily went to catch some rest before resuming their journey.

On the other hand, the announcement PV features the same visual in motion, with Frieren (voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki) saying, "Shall we continue our journey?".

Interestingly, the message calls back to season 1's final episode, which ended with a "Journey to Ende continues" message. Besides Frieren's message, the video features a familiar OST from the show's first season.

At the same time, the official staff shared a congratulatory illustration and comment from Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe. The drawn visual features Frieren, Himmel, Heiter, and Eisen, i.e., the Hero Party members.

The joint comment from Kanehito-san and Tsukasa-san in Japanese, when translated into English, reads as follows:

"The second season of the TV anime has been decided to be produced! We owe it all to everyone who has supported us. We are eternally grateful to everyone involved in the anime who has created this wonderful anime. As a viewer, I look forward to Frieren's Journey as she sets off again..."

The first season debuted on September 29, 2024, with the 2-hour-length premiere on Nippon Television's Friday Anime Night timeslot. The season aired 28 episodes in two cours. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan.

The previous season adapted the manga up to chapter 60 from Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's fantasy manga series.

As such, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End season 2 will begin the adaptation from chapter 61 and show Frieren, her mage apprentice Fern, who has qualified as a First-Class Mage, and Stark the Warrior, resuming their journey to Ende.

In other words, the sequel will pick up the adaptation from the Continued Northern Travels Arc and cover The Golden Land Arc.
