The official website and X handle for the Given anime shared a promotional video and poster to announce the release date of the franchise's second movie, Given the Movie: To the Sea. According to the announcement made on Monday, July 15, 2024, the second film will be released on September 20, 2024, in Japanese theatres. The short clip also revealed the theme song and the artist.
It was earlier revealed that the Given anime would receive a two-part sequel anime film. The first movie, based on Natsuki Kizu's original manga series, premiered on January 27, 2024, in Japan. The official staff announced that the second movie would hit screens in Fall 2024. Aside from the release date, the staff has teased the story's conclusion with the latest announcement.
Given anime's trailer for 2nd film confirms September 20, 2024 premiere and Centimillimental's theme song
As mentioned, the official staff for the Given anime streamed a new promotional video for the franchise's second film on Monday, July 15, 2024. The short clip revealed that the movie, titled Given the Movie: To the Sea, will open in Japan on September 20, 2024.
The latest trailer shows the protagonist Mafuyu's despair, as he feels left behind by everyone around him. Plunged into a melancholic state, he thinks he cannot sing anymore. However, Ritsuka confronts the boy through music.
The short PV highlights the other characters besides Mafuyu and Ritsuka and teases the narrative of the second film. Aside from that, the trailer previews the theme song, Ketsugen, performed by the Japanese music band, Centimillimental.
A comment from the artist has arrived on the anime's official site, where they mentioned that the song resembles life itself. Centimillimental has dedicated the song to the Given anime, mentioning that they have created the song with care. The same band performed the first film's theme, titled Super Ultra I Love You.
The poster for the Given anime's second film has also been unveiled. The illustration depicts Mafuyu, Ritsuka, Akihiko, and Haruki, standing in the streets of Shibuya. Mafuyu has his eyes lowered, while Ritsuka and others are looking back at him. There's also a large advertisement for Hiiragi and Gensumi on the building behind them.
Moreover, the anime's website and X account announced that the movie ticket cards with bonuses will be up for sale on July 27, 2024. The bonuses include polaroid-type cards with Natsuki Kizu's original illustrations.
Cast and staff for the movie
Noriko Hashimoto directs the two-part sequel movie project for the Given anime at Lerche studio, with Yuniko Ayana in the screenplay, Mina Osawa as the character designer, and Michiru as the music composer.
Shogo Yano stars as Mafuyu Sato, while Yuma Uchida voices Ritsuka Uenoyama. Besides them, the cast includes Masamoto Nakazawa as Hakuri, Shintaro Asanuma as Ugetsu, Taito Ban as Shizusumi, Fumiya Imai as Hiiragi, Takuya Eguchi as Akihiko, and others.
