Gushing Over Magical Girls Season 2 has been green-lit for production. The official staff confirmed the sequel's production with a teaser promotional video during the afternoon session event of the Mahoako SM Thanksgiving Festival on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Yet, no information about the release date was announced.
Gushing Over Magical Girls Season 2 serves as a sequel to the previous installment, which aired 13 episodes from January 2024 to March 2024. The series itself is based on the eponymous magical girl manga series, written and illustrated by Akihiro Ononaka. Takeshobo's Storia Dash site has been serializing the manga since March 2019.

On Saturday, October 5, 2024, the official staff of the series held the Mahoako SM Thanksgiving Festival at the Makuhari International Training Center in Chiba, Japan. During the festival's afternoon session event, the staff unveiled a teaser promotional video to announce the production of Gushing Over Magical Girls Season 2.
Later, Kadokawa uploaded the video on its official YouTube channel. The announcement PV features the beloved characters from the previous season, including Utena Hiiragi, Korisu Morino, Sayo, Nemo, Gigant, Matama, and others. It opens with Utena exhibiting her sadistic self, toying with the magical girls one after another.
The PV retains the tone from the previous installment and showcases the magical girls' peril. Yet, the short clip doesn't reveal details regarding the sequel's release date. As such, fans would have to wait for further updates on the Gushing Over Magical Girls Season 2 from the anime's official staff.
Notably, Crunchyroll streamed the previous season as it aired in Japan. Fuka Izumi starred as Utena Hiiragi, while Kaori Maeda played the role of Haruka Hanabishi. Shiori Sugiura played Korisu Morino, while Ao Koga voiced Kiwi Araga.
Other cast members were Minami Tsuda as Nemo, Kana Asumi as Vatz, Mayuko Kazama as Sayo Minakami, Yuka Aisaka as Matama Akoya, Aya Kawakami as Utena's mother, Nadoka Hasegawa as teacher, and others. While it's not confirmed as of this writing, Gushing Over Magical Girls Season 2 will likely retain the main cast from the previous season.
Atsushi Ootsuki and Tadano Suzuki directed the first season of this magical girl anime at Asahi Production, with Noburo Kimura as the series composer & supervisor. Tasuka Otaki was credited as the character designer, while Yasuharu Takanashi, Johannes Nilsson, and Akinaru Suzuki composed the anime's music.
Since the previous installment ended the adaptation at around Chapter 24, Gushing Over Magical Girls Season 2 will continue the adaptation from the next chapter. The anime follows Utena Hiiragi, who once wanted to become a magical heroine and fight evil.
However, her dreams get shattered when one day, she taps into her dormant powers and transforms into a villain. Yet, Utena strangely discovers that rather than becoming a heroic figure, she likes to inflict pain on others.
