Wednesday, September 11, 2024, saw the Hana wa Saku anime’s official website reveal the television series’ first promotional video, January 2025 release window, cast, staff, and more. Although a full release date for the series wasn’t given, fans can expect this to be announced in the final weeks of 2024 as the January 2025 release date approaches.

While the starring pair of Minori Fujidera and Miyuri Shimabukuro had been previously announced, this latest casting announcement rounds out what’s presumably the central group. The Hana wa Saku anime also revealed a new key visual, which features all seven previously and newly announced central characters in a classroom together.

Hana wa Saku anime’s first trailer previews setting of Tonakishima, focus on protagonist Hana Haruyama

The Hana wa Saku anime’s first trailer opens with a general focus on Tonakishima Island, the series’ main setting. Protagonist Hana Haruyama is particularly focused on, as is Mizuki Usurai. The former will be voiced by Minori Fujidera, and the latter by Miyuri Shimabukuro.

Joining the pair are newly announced cast members Fuka Izumi as An Natsue, Shoya Chiba as Shudai Toga, Seiichiro Yamashita as Matsuyuki Akiyama, Kiyono Yasuno as Ryoko Totonoi, and Taito Ban as Setaro Hakoyama.

Previously announced staff for the series includes Ayumu Uwano as director at Studio Bind, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu in charge of series scripts, and Kou Aine designing the characters. Newly announced staff members include:

  • Chief animation directors: Kou Aine, Satoshi Shimada
  • Art directors: Shinobu Yamaguchi, Kanako Shirai
  • Color design: Naomi Nakano
  • Prop design: Seiji Handa
  • Compositing director of photography: Kōhei Tanada
  • Editing: Akari Saitō
  • Sound director: Takatoshi Hamano
  • Music: Masaru Yokoyama

As mentioned above, the anime series is officially slated for a January 2025 release window. The series will air on Nippon TV, BS NTV, and additional Japanese television stations upon its premiere.

Unfortunately, no international streaming information was discussed for the series in this latest batch of news, but this is also unsurprising given the January release window. Fans can expect a full release date to be announced in the final months of the 2024 calendar year.

The Hana wa Saku anime serves as the television anime adaptation of author Ayano Takeda and illustrator Musshu’s Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku manga. This is also the full name of the anime series and translates to FLOWER AND ASURA. The manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump seinen manga magazine in June 2021, where it is still ongoing today.

The series is set in Tonakishima, a small island with a population of just 600. Hana is a high school girl on the island who loves recitals and holds reading sessions for the island’s children regularly. Mizuki is the president of the Broadcasting Club and recognizes Hana’s talent for attracting people through her reading. She invites Hana to join the Broadcasting Club, leading her to experience many firsts with Mizuki and the other members.
