Hunter X Hunter volume 38 confirms September 2024 release

It was confirmed that volume 38 of this manga will have a total of 208 pages and have an English release on September 4, 2024. Furthermore, this volume will likely cover chapters 391 to 400 of the manga, part of the Succession Contest arc. This is the current storyline in the series.

Author Yoshihiro Togashi has had numerous health problems throughout the years, going back to the 90s when he made the Yu Yu Hakusho manga, which has been reflected in several hiatus with this series. However, the mangaka has given positive signs because of the recent sketches he has posted on social media, although there is no indication of when new chapters are coming out.

The premise of the series

The series tells the story of Gon, a kid with incredible strength who decides to become a Hunter, a profession made out of powerful individuals, to find his father, Ging, who left him because of it. Along the way, he makes friends such as Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika, although Gon's path leads to some really dark moments in his life.

Part of what made the series such an outstanding success is Togashi's non-linear storytelling, the deconstruction of some classic shonen tropes, and how Gon, despite being the story's protagonist, is not the center of the world in which the story takes place. Furthermore, combining some truly optimistic themes with some darker elements added a surprising factor, which many people consider to have reached its climax with the Chimera Ant arc.
