Produced by Maho Film, I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History anime serves as an adaptation of the light novel series, written by Izumi Okido, and illustrated by Jyun Hayase. Enterbrain publishers have been serializing the light novels since August 2019, with six volumes published thus far. The light novels have also inspired a manga adaptation by Akari Hoshi.

Aside from Kanna Nakamura, who stars as Alicia Williams, the anime features Kaito Ishikawa as Duke Seeker, Rie Takahashi as Jill, Ryota Ohsaka as Albert Williams, Haruki Ishiya as Henry Williams, Kohei Amasaki as Alan Williams, Kent Ito as Eric Hudson, Hiroshi Yanaka as Will, and Manaka Iwami as Cather Liz.

Additionally, the cast includes Shoya Chiba as Gale Evans, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Arnold Williams, Nobuhiko Okamoto as Curtis Kenwood, Takehito Koyasu as Luke Seeker, and Ayumu Murase as Finn Smith.

Based on Izumi Okido's light novels, I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History anime follows the story of Alicia, who hates meek and mild heroines. One day, through a chain of events, she gets reincarnated as a villainess in her favorite Otome game.

Alicia then strives to become the most evil heroine the world has ever seen. However, things don't quite go her way, when she meets Prince Duke Seeker. Whenever Alicia tries to act like a villainess, the prince likes her more.
