Weekly Shonen Jump magazine hints at a big Jujutsu Kaisen announcement
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine news leaker on X (formerly Twitter) @WSJ_manga revealed that Jujutsu Kaisen manga by Gege Akutami is set to announce a piece of great news next week in the upcoming Weekly Shonen Jump magazine issue #44.
The manga will end with a Center Color Page in the magazine issue and hold a Digital Manuscript Applicant Service and a Postcard Appendix in the same. While neither the manga nor the magazine has really hinted at the great announcement, the editor's text seemingly reads "still more to come."
If fans remember, over a month ago, just as My Hero Academia manga was ending, the Kohei Horikoshi series had also hinted at a big announcement. While fans wished for the announcement to be about a sequel manga or an anime adaptation of the spinoff manga My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, the announcement itself disappointed people.
This is because, unlike what fans had expected the announcement to be, the 'big' news was about a character popularity poll. While it is true that the manga had never conducted a worldwide character popularity poll till now, the fans were left feeling let down.
Similarly, the chances of Jujutsu Kaisen manga's "great news" being about a sequel or spinoff manga are really low. However, the editor's comment reading "still more to come" does hint that the news would not disappoint fans.
Given the circumstances, while one cannot confirm it, following My Hero Academia's fourth movie to celebrate the manga's 10th anniversary, Shueisha could be cashing in on a Jujutsu Kaisen movie. That said, there is no way to confirm the same.
Thus, so as not to leave oneself disappointed, fans should prepare themselves for news surrounding Jujutsu Kaisen's popularity poll, exhibition, or merchandise.
