On June 23, 2024, the official X of Shounen Jump Editorial Department made a tweet announcing the extension of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series' hiatus by a week. Chapter 263 was supposed to be released on July 1, 2024, in Japan.

Gege Akutami writes and illustrates the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series. The manga series is the author's most influential work. The manga series went on hiatus because of the author's health, after the previous chapter's release. Fans need not worry about the current extension as the author's health is improving, and the extension is only to ensure the author's complete recovery.

According to the tweet, the Jujutsu Kaisen manga series will resume its publication and release its latest chapter (chapter 263) in the 32nd issue of Weekly Shounen Jump. The chapter was to be released in the 31st issue after the hiatus, but it was extended by a week.

The tweet also revealed that the health of Gege Akutami, the author of Jujutsu Kaisen, is improving, but after consulting the editorial staff of his manga series, they extended the hiatus by a week to confirm the author's perfect health. The [translated] tweet states:

"Jujutsu Kaisen was scheduled to resume publication in issue 31 of Weekly Shonen Jump, but will resume publication in issue 32. Although Professor Akutami's health is improving, after consulting with the editorial staff, we have decided that he should resume writing only when he is in perfect health. We appreciate your continued support."

A summary of Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 262

Chapter 262, titled "The Decisive Battle in the Uninhabited, Demon-Infested Shinjuku 34," started with the expansion of Infinite Void and Malevolent Shrine as the second round of the battle of the strongest started.

Yuta (Gojo) countered Sukuna's domain using a miniature Infinite Void, a method that Gojo Satoru discovered during his battle against the King of Curses.

Yuta (Gojo) used Purple to distract Sukuna, but the King of Curses punched Yuta (Gojo) in the face before he could launch the cursed technique. The chapter then shifted to a scene where Rika's full body had manifested and she was holding Yuta's corpse in his arms, weeping.
