Chapter 263 of the series was set to be released on July 1, 2024, after its hiatus, but it was extended to another week. Gege Akutami's health is no longer a big concern as he was reported to be recovering. The only reason the hiatus was extended was for the author to be completely recovered before he picked up his manga series again.

A future that isn't possible

Unfortunately, Itadori and Choso crossed paths at the wrong location at the wrong time for the wrong purposes. Even though both of them have similar origins, they were manipulated by Kenjaku to go against each other.

After a very heated fight, as Choso was about to kill Itadori, he got a mysterious flashback which made him realize that Itadori was similar to him. This made him join the protagonist's side only for him to die at the hands of Sukuna right before the eyes of Itadori during the final fight in the Shinjuku Showdown arc. These two characters were not able to enjoy a happy moment together in the manga.

During the Death Painting arc, Nobara and Yuji killed two Death Paintings, Kechizu and Eso. These two Death Paintings were the brothers of Choso who made it his aim in life to kill Itadori with his own hands.

During the Shibuya arc, Itadori and Choso crossed paths. They utilized every trump card in their arsenal and fought until Yuji lost. As Choso was about to kill the murderer of his brothers, he saw a visual where he was sitting with Itadori, Esu, and Kechizu at a dinner table. Choso fainted after the visual subsided.

At the end of this arc, Choso sided with the protagonist and they trained together. During the Shinjuku Showdown arc, before Itadori could go against Sukuna, Choso requested the sorcerers to teach Itadori some cursed techniques. He devised the method of eating other Death Paintings for Itadori so that he could awaken Blood Manipulation.

While Itadori fought Sukuna, the latter activated his domain and cut one of the protagonist's legs. The King of Curses then activated his flames and directed them towards Itadori but Choso blocked him. These two met again in the same visual as the Shibuya arc one and Choso then thanked Itadori for being a brother to him. As Choso's body was burned to a crisp, Itadori thanked him while referring to him as an older brother.
