According to the latest leaks from Weekly Shonen Jump issue #52, Kagurabachi chapter 59 has been delayed by a week, and will now be released on Monday, December 2, 2024. Previously, the chapter was slated to be released on November 25, 2024. Instead, a bonus chapter, titled Chapter 58.1, will be released next week.
Although the magazine hasn't revealed an exact reason behind the sudden hiatus, it's most likely due to the author's schedule. The recent leaks further revealed that Takeru Hokazono's manga will receive a cover and a lead color page in next week's issue (Weekly Shonen Jump #53).
Kagurabachi Chapter 59 gets replaced by a bonus chapter on Weekly Shonen Jump's 52nd issue
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the leaks for Weekly Shonen Jump's upcoming issue (52) arrived online. According to the alleged leaks, Kagurabachi chapter 59 will be on a break on Monday, November 21, 2024. However, the manga itself won't be on a hiatus.
Instead of chapter 59, the manga will release an extra chapter (chapter 58.1) of 11 pages about Genichi Sojo, enjoying his bath. Kagurabachi chapter 59 will now be released on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 12 am JST in Weekly Shonen Jump's 53 issue.
According to the leaks, the bonus/extra chapter is chiefly centered on Genichi Sojo, who walks into a public bath before heading out to collect the Cloud Gouger. In other words, the chapter will show an off-screen event from the past, highlighting Sojo, who happens to be one of Takeru Hokazono's favorite characters in the manga.
The leaked magazine also revealed that the manga will receive a magazine cover and a lead cover page next week, i.e., in Weekly Shonen Jump #31. However, the Weekly Shonen Jump didn't mention why Kagurabachi chapter 59 went on a hiatus and instead chose to release an extra chapter.
It perhaps has to do with Takeru Hokazono's work schedule. The esteemed mangaka has been releasing chapters, including the color pages, without a break for a while. It's speculated, not confirmed that Hokazono might have wanted a break, but Weekly Shonen Jump didn't allow him to take. That's why, instead of publishing Kagurabachi chapter 59, the mangaka sketched a skit chapter on Sojo.
Notably, Hokazono's suffering from workload has been evident from a few recently released chapters, where he used the same panels on more than one occasion. Other than that, Weekly Shonen Jump may have wanted Hokazono to release Kagurabachi chapter 59, along with the magazine cover and the lead cover page.
Since Undead Unluck received a color page in Weekly Shonen Jump issue #52, Hokazono's manga couldn't receive the cover illustration. At any rate, it's slightly unusual for Takeru Hokazono to delay a chapter aside from workload-related issues since the previous chapter ended on an enticing cliffhanger.
