Kaiju No.8 season 2 announced with teaser visual and new PV at Jump Festa 2025

On Sunday, December 22, 2024, a new teaser visual for Kaiju No.8 season 2 was revealed during Super Stage Red at Jump Festa 2025. Season 2 is set to begin broadcasting on TV Tokyo and other networks from July 2025.

It was also announced that a Kaiju No.8 season 1 compilation movie and an original episode will be released on March 28, 2025. Kaiju No.8 season 2 announced, with new PV and Boot Camp at Jump Festa 2025

Kaiju No.8 Super Stage Red unveiled a new key visual, announcing that season 2 will begin broadcasting from July 2025. The visual featured Gen Narumi alongside the tagline "Proof I'm the strongest." Season 2 will be animated by Production I.G.

It was then disclosed that the Kaiju No.8 season 1 compilation film, along with the special episode titled Hoshina's Day Off, will be released in theaters nationwide in Japan for a three-week long run starting from March 28, 2025.

New trailers for the dual showing were unveiled, including one that previewed a new ending theme song by OneRepublic titled "Invincible.

Alongside these important announcements, a chibi illustration featuring characters from the series was unveiled. This was followed by the reveal of new visuals from Kaiju No.8, THE GAME. An event in Yokohama, titled Defence Force Boot Camp, was then announced, introducing new cast members: Iharu Furuhashi, Izumo Haruichi, and Kaguragi Aoi.

Kaiju No 8 stage was being presented by franchise voice actors Katsuyuki Konishi (Kafka Hibino), Asami Seto (Mina Ashiro), Wataru Katō (Reno Ichikawa), Ai Fairouz (Kikoru Shinomiya), and Kengo Kawanishi (Soshiro Hoshina). The stage was well-conducted, with the VAs acting out certain scenes from the manga. They also had a Q&A segment with the mangaka of the series, Naoya Matsumoto. A message from the mangaka to the fans was also shared.

It was revealed during the stage that the manga had reached 17 million copies in circulation with 14 volumes, a significant milestone. Volume 15 of the manga is set to be released in March 2025, undoubtedly adding to the hype and excitement for the series.

Kaiju No 8 synopsis

The series follows the life of a regular guy named Kafka Hibino, who works for a cleaning company that disposes of the bodies of monsters called kaiju after they die in battle. Kafka's childhood dream was to join the Defense Force and protect people from these monsters.

However, having failed the exam multiple times, he had to settle into his job as a sweeper. One day, after a routine job, Kafka encounters an unkowning flying kaiju which forced its way into his mouth. Upon ingesting it, he gains the ability to turn into a humanoid monster, Kaiju No. 8.
