On Friday, December 27, the official YouTube channel of Shogakukan's Manga ONE app saw Kengan Ashura manga creator Yabako Sandrovich hinting at the launch of a new manga. The new manga was teased while Sandrovich judged the entries for Manga ONE's "Battle Comic Award."
While Yabako Sandrovich has created four manga series, he is most popularly known for Kengan Ashura. Hence, after the manga ended in August 2018, he launched a sequel series called Kengan Omega in January 2019. His two other manga are How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? and ST✰R: Strike it Rich, both created alongside MAAM.
Kengan Ashura creator teases his fifth manga
On Thursday, December 27, 2024, the official YouTube channel of Shogakukan's Manga ONE app streamed a video of Kengan Ashura manga creator Yabako Sandrovich judging the manga entries for Manga ONE's "Battle Comic Award."
During this stream, the onscreen text at 4:19 read, "Before judging the Newcomer Award, there is a meeting about a new series, the fifth one with an original story." This suggested that the Kengan Ashura creator, Yabako Sandrovich, would soon launch a new manga. However, instead of addressing the manga, Sandrovich could be seen discussing a certain mixed martial arts move with his editor, Shou Kobayashi.
Moments later, at 5:04, the manga creator and editor are seen moving to another location for the Newcomer Award Judgment via an elevator. During this, the camera operator seemingly asked Yabako Sandrovich about the new manga, which he confirmed. Additionally, the manga creator added that the schedule looked good.
Unfortunately, the manga creator revealed no other information. While the new manga could be a sequel to one of his previous works, there is a good chance that the fifth manga will be an entirely new project. The only question is whether Sandrovich will work on it alone or alongside another manga artist.
Until now, Sandrovich has only created series with manga artists, namely Daromeon and MAAM. With Daromeon currently busy illustrating Kengan Omega and MAAM busy illustrating How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift? and ST✰R: Strike it Rich, there is a good chance that Sandrovich might be working alongside another new manga artist. That said, there does exist a small possibility that the manga creator might be drawing his new series himself.
