The roughly 90-second long trailer for the Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp anime film doesn’t seem to reveal any new scenes or dialogue compared to the original trailer. Instead, the sole change seems to be the addition of English subtitles in order to promote the project’s international release.

The film serves as a compilation of the original three films in the franchise, dubbed Part 1: Tekketsu, Part 2: Nekketsu, and Part 3: Reiketsu. These were released in Japanese theaters in January 2016, August 2016, and January 2017, respectively. The films adapt the third volume in author Nisio Isin and illustrator Vofan’s original Monogatari light novel series, which began serialization in August 2005 and is still ongoing today with 29 volumes released.

Kizumonogatari serves as a prequel to the Bakemonogatari series, detailing the story of how the film’s titular protagonist Koyomi encounters the female vampire that would turn him. The story also follows his journey as he attempts to return to his normal life in the aftermath of this drastic and sudden change.

Tatsuya Oishi, who also directed the Bakemonogatari anime series, directed the original film trilogy at the SHAFT anime studio. Akiyuki Simbo was credited as the chief director of the production. Akio Watanabe and Hideyuki Morioka designed the characters, while Yota Tsuruoka directed the sound for the series, and Satoru Kousaki composed the music.

The new Kizumonogatari: Koyomi Vamp anime film saw French singer-songwriter Clémentine return to the franchise to perform its ending theme song. Clémentine previously performed the song "Étoile et toi,” which translates to “The Star and Me”, for the Kizumonogatari Part 2: Nekketsu anime film. She also performed a new arrangement of the same song for the third Reiketsu film in the series.
