On Friday, October 11, 2024, Shueisha announced that After the Rain manga creator Jun Mayuzuki's new manga, Kowloon Generic Romance is set to receive a television anime and live-action film adaptation in 2025. As part of this announcement, the series unveiled a combined teaser trailer and visual.

Kowloon Generic Romance, written and illustrated by Jun Mayuzuki, is a Japanese romance manga currently serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine since November 2019. As of now, the manga has published nine compiled volumes.

On Friday, October 11, 2024, Shueisha announced the anime and live-action adaptations of Jun Miyazuku's Kowloon Generic Romance manga. Both the television anime and live-action film are set to premiere in 2025.

Shueisha unveiled this announcement with a combined teaser visual and trailer. The teaser visual features the main characters, Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudō, in both their anime and live-action versions. Both versions depict the same scenario, with Kudō seen caressing Kujirai's face.

As for the teaser trailer, it was something entirely new as both the anime and live-action clips were compiled together in a single teaser trailer. The teaser essentially gave fans a preview of the two characters and Kowloon in both animated and live-action versions by repeatedly switching between the two.

As for the anime adaptation, Haruka Shiraishi is set to voice Reiko Kujirai, a Kowloon-based real estate agent. Shiraishi has previously voiced Asirpa in Golden Kamuy and Kirie Motoba in Himouto! Umaru-chan. Meanwhile, Tomokazu Sugita is set to voice her colleague, Hajime Kudō. Sugita has previously voiced Sakata Gintoki and Gyoumei Himejima in Demon Slayer.

As for the live-action adaptation, Riho Yoshioka is set to play Reiko Kujirai. She has previously appeared in Anime Supremacy! and Blind. Meanwhile, Kōshi Mizukami is set to play Hajima Kudō, having been cast in Nina and My Love.

Kowloon Generic Romance takes place in a walled dystopian city called Kowloon, a place where the past, present, and future converge. Amid the confined city where people are brimming with nostalgia and hiding their emotions, a tale of romance starts to unfold between two real estate agents, Reiko Kujirai and Hajime Kudō.
