This was announced at the afternoon performance of the special event: Laid-Back Campers Gathering in Nihon Kogakuin Arena in Tokyo. Laid-Back Camp season 4 serves as a sequel to the previous installment, which aired 12 episodes from April 2024 to June 2024. The series itself is based on the eponymous manga series, written and illustrated by Afro. Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward serialized Afro-san's manga from July 2015 to February 2019. After that, it was transferred to Comic Fuz. 16 Volumes have been published thus far.
Laid-Back Camp season 4 gets officially confirmed for production
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the official staff held a special event called the Laid-Back Campers Gathering for the franchise's third season at Nihon Kogakuin Arena in Tokyo, Japan. During the event, the staff announced the production of Laid-Back Camp season 4.
As mentioned, the staff didn't reveal any details about the release date or window, cast and staff, or other details concerning the sequel. However, they unveiled an illustration from the manga's original author, Afro. The drawn visual features Ema Mizunami and Mei Nakatsugawa, who appeared in the preceding season.
The slice-of-life anime's official X (formerly Twitter) has also shared a comment from Afro sensei. The author's comments in Japanese, when translated into English, read as follows:
"Thank you for deciding to make the Laid Bacl Camp anime 'SEASON 4!'. The story of the two freshmen who only had a few episodes in 'SEASON' should be depicted in detail in 'SEASON,' so please look forward to it! And that fluffy white thing will be there again..."
From Afro sensei's comments, it's evident that Laid-Back Camp season 4 will explore Ema Mizunami and Mei Nakatsugawa.
Produced by 8Bit Studios, the anime's previous installment aired on April 4, 2024, on Tokyo MX and other affiliated networks in Japan. Crunchyroll streamed the third season as it aired in Japan. It's speculated, not confirmed that Crunchyroll will stream the upcoming season as well.
Shin Tosaka directed the previous season, with Masafumi Sugiura in charge of the series scripts and composition. Hisanori Hashimoto designed the characters, while Akiyuki Tateyama composed the music for the series.
What to expect in Laid-Back Camp season 4
Although the anime's official staff hasn't revealed a synopsis for the sequel yet, it will likely pick up the adaptation from chapter 78 of the manga, since the previous installment ended the adaptation at chapter 77.
As such, fans can expect the season to show more of Nadeshiko, Rin, and others' outdoor activities. Besides, the sequel will explore the story of Ema and Mei in detail, who appeared in the last season.
