On Sunday, July 7, 2024, the Jujutsu Kaisen panel at Anime Expo 2024 confirmed that Director Shota Goshozono will direct Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. After directing the anime's second season, Shota Goshozono is set to return for the anime's third season at MAPPA.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 anime was aired from July to December 2023. The anime was highly successful and won several awards for its execution. However, several staff members criticized MAPPA for its poor work environment and quit working there. Fortunately, the Director is set to reprise his role for the third season.

Anime Expo 2024 confirms Shota Goshozono's return to Jujutsu Kaisen season 3

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Anime Expo 2024 saw Jujutsu Kaisen conduct a stage event at the convention in association with Crunchyroll. This stage event saw special guests - Junya Enoki (Japanese voice of Yuji Itadori), Shota Goshozono (Director of Season 2), and Keisuke Seshimo (Animation Lead Producer, MAPPA) join fans to celebrate the mega-hit manga series.

Shota Goshozono's presence at the stage event itself hinted that he was set to reprise his role for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3. However, the stage event also saw him express that he was looking forward to animate Maki Zen'in in the anime's third season.

This confirmed that Shota Goshozono is set to reprise his role as the Director for Jujutsu Kaisen season 3.

How fans reacted to Director's return

Jujutsu Kaisen fans were elated to learn that Shota Goshozono would return for the anime's third season. This is because they loved the anime's second season and believed that the series would suffer if the director were to be changed.

"Goshozono more than confirmed as director of s3," one fan said.
"thank God, I will be sad if he leaves Shota is pure cinema," another said.
"YOU MEAN THE DIRECTOR FOR SEASON 2 IS GONNA DIRECT SEASON 3," another fan said.

Another fan expressed their love for Shota Goshozono. After watching the director's influence on the anime's second season, they considered Goshozono's work to be a cinematic experience. Hence, they looked forward to watching Jujutsu Kaisen season 3.

Nevertheless, some fans weren't as excited about the anime. This is because the manga had taken a horrible turn.

"Too bad the story took such a horrible turn. Not a sole worthwhile left alive if you know from the manga. I can’t watch the rest if I’m just gonna be left feeling like sh*t when it’s all said and done," other fan expressed.

Except for the protagonist Yuji Itadori and a handful of others, all likable characters had already passed away in the series. Thus, they saw no point in watching an anime that only made them feel bad.
