On November 6, 2024, Bandai Namco Filmworks (a production studio) announced the anime adaptation of the manga series Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP. Although the specifics of the anime weren't revealed, the director and animation studio of the series were revealed.
Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP is an ongoing manga series written by Yuu Shizumu and illustrated by Makoto Aogiri. The manga series has ten volumes (Japanese) and nine volumes (English) in serialization.
Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP receives an anime adaptation by studio Durandal
The production studio released a teaser visual featuring the main protagonists, Yukito Kirihara and his sister Sana, to commemorate the anime adaptation. Animation studio Durandal, established in 2022, will animate the series.
Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP anime will be directed by Mamoru Yokota, the animation director for some episodes of Naruto Shippuden and Death Note. Other than this, most information regarding the anime adaptation (release date, voice casting, etc) wasn't unveiled.
Makoto Aogiri, the illustrator for the manga series, drew an illustration featuring some characters from the series to commemorate the anime's announcement. The writer for Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP, Yuu Shizumu, is also famous for his Ecchi series Blade Dance of the Elementalers, which received an anime adaptation by studio TNK in 2014.
Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP manga series started its serialization on February 5, 2019. It has compiled ten volumes in Japanese, with the latest one set to be released on November 8, 2024. There are nine volumes in publication in English, and the 10th one is set to be released on November 12, 2024.
Let's Speedrun the Dungeon with Only 1 HP synopsis
The manga is an action-fantasy series telling the tale of Yukito Kirihara, the male protagonist, who enjoys his everyday life with Sana, his little sister. However, their days are disturbed when an ogre appears in their house looking for Sana, and Yukito dies while protecting his sister.
As the plotline in such genre goes, Yukito is transported to a void where he is promised to be reincarnated by a mysterious woman. As she hands him a mysterious book filled with names, Yukito witnesses his sister's name and enters her world to save her, even if he has only 1 HP (hit points) to spare.
