Let This Grieving Soul Retire! anime is an adaptation of author Tsukikage and illustrator Chyko's fantasy light novel series of the same name. Micro Magazine has been publishing the novels since August 2018 under the GC Novels imprint. Kodansha's ComicWalker site serializes a manga adaptation of the series with Rai Hebino's art.
Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Season 2 officially confirmed for production
The fantasy anime's first season ended on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, with a promotional video, announcing the production of Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Season 2. The short clip captures the iconic moments from the recently concluded season and hypes up the sequel. However, the video didn't reveal pertinent details regarding the sequel's release date.
Notably, the light novels' original illustrator, Chyko, has shared a drawn illustration to celebrate the Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Season 2's production. The visual features Krai Andrey and Tino Shade. Moreover, the anime's official site has shared a comment from the original author, Tsukikage.
Tsukikage's comments in Japanese, when translated into English, read as follows:
"The first season was a great anime, and I'm so happy to be able to see a sequel. I can't express how grateful I am to the production committee and everyone who has supported the work so far. To be honest, the continuation of the auction arc is veen more crazy than before, but I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of anime it will be."
The author has also urged fans to continue supporting the series. Besides Tsukikage, comments from the anime's director, Masahiro Takata, and the voice actors of Krai Andrey (Kensho Ono) and Tino Shade (Miyu Kubota) have arrived. Takata is thrilled about the Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Season 2's production and hopes fans will continue to support the anime.
Likewise, Miyu Kubota says that while the first season ended happily, many issues remain to be resolved. As such, the voice actor is curious about the many aspects of the series. On the other hand, Kensho Ono wonders whether the Street Guri members, who have appeared only in flashbacks, will appear in the sequel.
The first season premiered on October 1, 2024, in Japan. Crunchyroll streamed the series globally. The anime stars Kensho Ono as Krai Andrey, Haruka Shiraishi as Lapis Fulgor, Miyu Kubota as Tino Shade, Satomi Amano as Chloe Welter, Yu Serizawa as Kris Argent, and Hana Hishikawa as Eclair Gladis.
Masahiro Takata directed the first season at Zero-G Studios, and Hideki Shirane handled the scripts. Takata-san was also in charge of the show's sound direction, with Saber Links on sound production.
Shingo Fujisaki designed the characters, while Ryohei Sataka composed the series' music. The main cast and staff are likely to return in Let This Grieving Soul Retire! Season 2.
