Thursday, November 7, 2024 saw the English dub cast and streaming release date officially announced for the Look Back anime film, the same day the film hits Amazon Prime Video. Likewise, the English dub will also stream on Amazon Prime Video and is currently available to watch as of this article’s writing.
The Look Back anime film features a wide cast for its English dub, numbering over a dozen talented and reputable voice actors in total. Some of them have worked on the television anime adaptation of creator Tatsuki Fujimoto’s flagship series, Chainsaw Man. Fujimoto wrote the original one-shot manga, which the anime film adapts, and published it in July 2021.

The Look Back anime film’s English dub will stream on Amazon Prime Video and stars Valerie Lohman as Fujino and Grace Lu as Kyomoto. Additional voices include Felecia Angelle, Ryan Colt Levy, Kayleigh McKee, Erin Yvette, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Alex Bankier, Shara Kirby, Suzie Yeung, Valeria Rodriguez, Tony Oliver, and Stephen Fu, all in various roles.
Colt Levy and Yeung also voice Denji and Makima in the English dub for Chainsaw Man anime. Also notable for Colt Levy is an apparent typo in the film’s credits, which lists him as “Ryan Coly Levy” rather than his true professional name.
The Look Back anime film first opened in Japanese theaters on June 28, 2024. The film took home top prize for the weekend’s earnings but was second in ticket sales. It sold 135 thousand seats and earned 227 million yen (roughly US$1.40 million) in its first weekend in Japanese theaters.
GKIDS first screened the film in North America on October 4, 2024, in New York and Los Angeles. The film was then made more widely available in the region for October 6 and 7 screenings. The film earned US$688,253 in its opening weekend for United States box offices. As of this article’s writing, the film has yet to be officially released in either Japan or North America.
Kiyotakka Oshiyama directed the anime and was also in charge of the screenplay and character designs. Oshiyama’s Studio Durian produced the film, with Kiyoshi Sameshima serving as art director and Yoshio Harisaki and Takashi Omori as art director assistants. Maya Kusumoto was the key color artist, and Kazuto Izumita was the compositing director of photography.
Kyoshi Hirose was in charge of editing the film, with Eirko Kimura serving as the sound director. The music was composed by Haruka Nakamura, and Nakamura also performed the film’s theme, Light Song. Yumi Kawai and Mizuki Yoshida starred in the original Japanese language version as Fujino and Kyomoto, respectively.
