Lycoris Recoil anime confirms 6 short movies ahead of upcoming anime project

Lycoris Recoil anime is about to get six short films, as per the staff of director Shingo Adachi, who told everybody at the anniversary event that took place this Tuesday at the Sumida Aquarium. The people in charge also revealed that each one of these six film shorts will be a story showing the everyday activities of the heroes, Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue, while operating in disguise for the Direct Attack organization under the project "Lycoris."

Notably, the first Lycoris Recoil anime was originally made as an A-1 Pictures production, and so far there hasn't been any news about the second season. This latest update is what fans can have as the closest possible thing to a second season, as there is no definitive sign that a new one will happen.

A-1 Pictures and the Lycoris Recoil anime's social media platforms recently confirmed that the latter is going to get six short movies in the coming months. These films are going to work as episodes of sorts, detailing the everyday lives of the two main characters in the story, Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue, as they go through several undercover jobs.

Each short movie is going to feature a different director who is going to provide his or her own input to the story, thus making each episode feel different in terms of visual storytelling and creative direction. Shingo Adachi, the series' original director, is going to work as a supervisor, and character designer Imigimuru is going to be in charge of the scripts.

The Lycoris Recoil anime tells the story of two orphan girls named Chisato Nishikigi and Takina Inoue, who were picked up by the Direct Attack organization that tasked them with several hit jobs and many more dangerous adventures. They also work undercover in several every-day professions, such as working at a coffee shop, daycare, etc.

As the two girls have to deal with terrorists and many other threats within the organization, they also have to come to terms with each other. In many ways, the core of the story is how Chisato and Takina learn to understand each other, thus leading to a strong dynamic between the two protagonists.
