Friday, September 6, 2024, saw the third promotional video for the MF Ghost season 2 sequel anime series be released, also previewing the second season in its footage. In addition, the series’ staff also unveiled a new key visual via the anime’s official website and also confirmed the ending theme song will be titled Side U (Prod. AmPm), performed by Himika Akaneya. Himika also performed the ending theme song for the anime’s first season.

With the series having already revealed the opening theme song, main cast, October release date, and more, this is likely the last MF Ghost season 2 news fans will get before its premiere. While it’s possible that additional cast will be announced as the series progresses, it’s likely that fans have a nearly-full cast list heading into the premiere considering the above.

MF Ghost season 2 introduces new racers and more in third and presumably final promotional video

The roughly 90-second promotional video for MF Ghost season 2 opens with a focus on a rainy racetrack, eventually seeing various drivers take off to race. Protagonist Kanata Rivington can be seen among the racers as they speed down the track, with plenty of dialogue from all involved being heard. The trailer also previews a few major crashes and close calls, further intensified by reaction shots from those watching the race.

Likewise, with the rainy weather being constant throughout the trailer, it seems that this latest promotional video for the series is isolated to one specific race or episode throughout the season. While not necessary, it is nice to see that the series is seemingly trying to show off as little of its material as possible before the upcoming October 2024 premiere.

The anime series will officially premiere in Japan on Monday, October 7, 2024, at 12 am Japanese Standard Time (JST) on Tokyo MX and BS11. The sequel season will then air on YTV, TV Aichi, and Animax at a later date, as well as be available for streaming on Lemino and Prime Video in Japan. International streaming info is currently unconfirmed, but Crunchyroll is likely given it streamed the first season and hosted the second’s premiere at Anime NYC 2024.

Tomohito Naka is directing the anime series at his studio Felix Film, with Kenichi Yamashita in charge of the series scripts and co-writing them with Akihiko Inari. Naoyuki Onda is designing the characters and serves as one of two chief animation directors alongside Chiyoko Sakamoto. Hiroki Uchida is the 3D director, with Masafumi Mima directing the sound, and Akio Dobashi composing the music.

The opening theme song is entitled ROCK ME KISS ME feat. MOTSU, and will be performed by Yu Serizawa. MF Ghost season 2 serves as the continuation of the television anime adaptation of author and illustrator Shuuichi Shigeno’s original manga series of the same name. Shigeno’s manga itself is a sequel to his prior work Initial D, which also has an anime adaptation.
