At the Aniplex Online Fest 2024, it was announced that the manga Mono (stylized as mono) is being adapted into an anime series set to be released in 2025. This new anime has already been teased earlier this year. Although not much information was shared, attendees got to see a new character visual and a promo video teasing the upcoming series.

The anime is based on manga written and illustrated by Afro, renowned for Laid-Back Camp. The manga began serializing in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Miracle! and is currently being published in Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine. Yen Press is expected to start publishing the English-translated volumes from November 2024.

Mono voice actor presents PV and more at Aniplex Online Fest 2024

At the Aniplex Online Fest 2024, held on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at 8 pm Pacific Time, some exciting updates were shared about the upcoming comedy Mono. Attendees got to see the first character visual of the protagonist, Satsuki Amamiya, as well as a promotional video.

The latter, a 30-second clip, showed Satsuki trying to find something she would be passionate about and taking loads of photos of food items. However, for the most part, the PV consisted of still images.

Haruna Mikawa, the voice actor for Satsuki, was present at the event. She shared the news about the anime's release date, which is planned for sometime in 2025.

Haruna showed up at the event with a 360-degree camera, which is just like the one her character uses in the anime. She also had the original manga of Mono, along with an innovative kite equipped with a camera that will be featured in the anime. She brought some local delicacies, such as rice crackers and shaved ice, from Kofu City in Yamanashi Prefecture, which is where the anime is set.

What is Mono about?

The anime will center on Satsuki Amamiya, a high school student, who is distressed by the news that both the Photography Club and the Cinema Club are about to be shut down. To save them, she would decide to merge the two and start the Cinephoto Club.

The series will follow Satsuki and her friends, An, Sakurako, and others, as they plan enjoyable activities for each weekend. Their adventures will include capturing scenic views around Kofu City in Yamanashi Prefecture, experimenting with various photography and videography techniques, and trying out the local cuisine.

The anime will be directed by Ryouta Aikei, with Youko Yonaiyama in charge of the series composition and Takuya Miyahara doing the character designs.

Additional details about the anime, including the remaining staff, cast members, the exact release date, and streaming platforms, will be shared on the official website and social media channels in the coming weeks as the release date approaches.
