On Monday, December 16, 2024, a new website and X account were opened to announce the production of My Awkward Senpai anime. The official staff shared a teaser promotional video and visual to announce that the series will premiere in 2025. Information regarding the rom-com anime's main cast and staff has arrived.

My Awkward Senpai anime serves as an adaptation of the eponymous romantic comedy manga series by Makoto Kudo. The series was initially launched as a webcomic in March 2019. Later, it began serialization in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine in December 2019.

The official staff shared a teaser promotional video and visual on Monday, December 16, 2024, to reveal that My Awkward Senpai anime, based on Makoto Kudo's manga series, will be released in 2025. A narrower release date will be disclosed later.

The promotional clip features the rom-com anime's heroine, Azusa Kannawa, voiced by Lynn. The short clip previews Lynn's voice as Azusa and gives fans a glimpse of the character's personality. Although she appears strict and disciplined, she also has a soft and clumsy side.

The visual for the My Awkward Senpai anime depicts Azusa glaring down with a serious expression. It also has a catchphrase in Japanese, which reads the following when translated into English:

"I can't be honest, but I have feelings I want to convey."

Notably, the official website and the X account have shared a comment and a celebratory illustration from Makoto Kudo, the original author. Regarding the My Awkward Senpai anime adaptation, Kudo has expressed their delight and gratitude.

Likewise, a comment from Azusa Kannawa's voice actor, Lynn has arrived on the website. The voice actor says that she can empathize with Azusa's character, as she's not good at communicating. She mentions that she will do her best to face the challenges in voicing Azusa.

According to the latest information, Ayumu Kotake, who has previously worked in Acro Trip, directs the rom-com series at Studio Elle. Mio Inoue, noted for their contribution to the Wonderful Precure!, supervises the series scripts. Kenro Tokuda has joined the staff as the character designer, while Koji Fujimoto handles the music composition.

Based on Makoto Kudo's manga series, the anime will follow the daily life of Yu Kamegawa, a serious new employee, and his strict yet clumsy boss, Azusa Kannawa.

Azusa as Yu's mentor finds him cute and easy to talk to. While she maintains her strict exterior, she eventually develops feelings for the boy. As such, the series will explore Azusa and Yu's unique chemistry.
