On Saturday, January 4, 2025, the official website and X account for the My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! anime unveiled the first teaser promotional video. According to the short clip, the anime is set to premiere in October 2025. Additionally, the staff has revealed a teaser visual for the series.
Produced by Studio Blade, the My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! anime serves as an adaptation of author Ghost Mikawa and illustrator Tomari's eponymous rom-com light novel series. SB Creative has been publishing the novels under the GA Bunko imprint since April 2019.
The series has released 10 tankobon volumes thus far. Square Enix publishes the novels' manga adaptation in Manga Up! magazine, with Hira Hiraoka's art. Notably, the anime adaptation was green-lit in 2021.
My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! anime's teaser PV confirms the October 2025 release window
According to the first promotional video shared by the official staff, the My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! anime will premiere in October 2025. However, an exact release date hasn't been revealed as of yet.
The 42-second-long PV shows Iroha Kohinata teasing Akiteru. Notably, the short clip previews the character voices of Iroha, Akiteru, and Mashiro. It was earlier mentioned that the cast members from the series' drama CD adaptation would reprise their roles.
In other words, Haruki Ishiya voices Akiteru Ooboshi, while Sayumi Suzushiro plays Iroha Kohinata's role. Soma Saito stars as Ozuma Kohinata, while Tomori Kusunoki voices Mashiro Tsukinomori. The other cast member is Kana Hanazawa, who voices Sumire Kageishi.
Besides the promotional video, the official staff has unveiled a teaser visual for the My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! anime. The illustration depicts Iroha Kohinata, who looks to be in a mischievous mood. Iroha wears her school dress and has a headphone on her neck.
Moreover, the official staff has shared comments from the original author, Ghost Mikawa, and the primary cast members, i.e., Haruki Ishiya (Akiteru), Sayumi Suzushiro (Iroha), and Tomori Kusunoki (Mashiro). Mikawa-san acknowledges how it's been a while since the anime has made any announcements.
However, the author hopes the audience can enjoy the "youthful romantic comedy." On the other hand, the voice actors revealed their favorite "cute and annoying" phrases and urged fans to look forward to the rom-com series' release.
Kazuomi Koga directs My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! at Studio Blade, with Toko Machida in charge of the series scripts and composition. Moreover, Katsuyuki Sato is credited as the character designer.
About the anime
Based on Ghost Mikawa's light novels, the My Friend's Little Sister Has It In for Me! anime is a romantic comedy centered around Akiteru Ooboshi, an ordinary high school boy, who considers himself average. Every girl he interacts with responds to him with scorn.
Yet, everything changes when his uncle asks him to play the role of his daughter's (Akiteru's best friend) boyfriend. The boy realizes his best friend's sister, Iroha, who bullies him continuously, might have hidden feelings for him.
