Wednesday, December 11, 2024 saw Kadokaa confirm that My Happy Marriage season 2 will indeed stream on Netflix, with the first episode coming on Monday, January 6, 2025. This is the same day the series debuts in Japan on several broadcast television networks, suggesting Netflix will stream each episode weekly as it airs in Japan.

A release time for My Happy Marriage season 2 on Netflix is unavailable as of this article’s writing, but the episodes will likely premiere shortly after they do in Japan. While Netflix releases are typically based on the Pacific Standard Time dates and times, that logic won’t apply to anime being simulcasted internationally.

My Happy Marriage season 2 streams on Netflix same day of series’ premiere in Japan

My Happy Marriage season 2 will premiere in Japan on Monday, January 6, at 10:30 pm Japanese Standard Time (JST). This translates to an 8:30 am Eastern Standard Time release and a 7 pm Indian Standard Time (IST) release. Likewise, fans can expect each episode to premiere on Netflix every Monday from January 6 on at some time, relatively shortly after the times mentioned above.

The series will first air on Tokyo MX in Japan, followed by airings on BS 11, KBS Kyoto, Sun TV, Aichi TV, and AT-X. The anime’s first season is currently being broadcasted for a second time on Tokyo MX and BS11 in two different time slots. In addition to Netflix, the series will also be on Japanese streaming services Abema, d Anime Store, Unlimited Anime, Bandai Channel, Hulu, Lemino, and many more.

Takehiro Kubota is directing the second season at Kinema Citrus studios alongside Masayuki Kojima, who was a storyboarder and episode director for the first season of the series. Ami Sato is now the sole credit for overseeing the series scripts, having shared this with Momoka Toyoda and Takahito Onishi in the first season. Sato is also co-writing the scripts alongside Misato Hashiba, Fuka Ishii, and Momoka Toyoda.

Shoko Yasuda returns to design the characters, with Kuniyuki Ito credited as the sub-character designer. Emi Katanosaka is back as art director, and Osamu Masuyama is returning as art advisor. New cast members include Ryotaro Okiayu as Tadakiyo Kudo, Kikuko Inoue as Fuyu Kudo, Yuya Uchida as Naoshi Usui, and Haruka Tomatsu as Kaoroku Jinnouchi. They join returning starring cast members:

  • Reina Ueda as Miyo Saimori
  • Kaito Ishikawa as Kiyoka Kudo
  • Ayane Sakura as Kaya Saimori
  • Kōtarō Nishiyama as Kōji Tatsuishi
  • Houko Kuwashima as Yurie
  • Hiro Shimono as Yoshito Godō
  • Ryōhei Kimura as Arata Tsuruki
  • Yōko Hikasa as Hazuki Kudo

The first season premiered in Japan in July 2023 and ran for 12 episodes, with Netflix also streaming the anime series worldwide weekly as it aired in Japan. Netflix also streams the series’ original video animation (OVA) titled The Shape of Happiness.
