Tuesday, June 18, 2024 saw the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the My Hero Academia franchise announce Phase 2 of their collaboration with NBALAB and Hyperfly. The three previously collaborated in 2023 to release several NBA team jackets under the Hyperfly brand and design approach, with the series’ character All Might being incorporated into the designs.

The post from the My Hero Academia X account teased that Phase 2 would be coming “later this year,” and that the shared picture of Izuku “Deku” Midoriya served as a “sneak peek” of the phase. The post also congratulated the Boston Celtics on their latest NBA Finals win, which is the team’s eighteenth overall in history. This is also the largest number of Finals wins by any one team in NBA history.

My Hero Academia confirms Phase 2 of NBALAB x Hyperfly collab after Boston Celtics’ record-breaking win

Unfortunately, as of this article’s writing, there is no additional information on the aforementioned second phase of the three brands’ collaboration. However, it’s expected that the Boston Celtics will be a focal point since the My Hero Academia X post announcing the second phase directly references their record-breaking win.

Fans can primarily expect the second phase of the collaboration to feature brand new offerings, with restocks of the previous items possible but not guaranteed. It’s also likely that Deku will be a focal point in the second phase, with the first primarily featuring All Might in the products which came out of the collaboration.

Given the timing of the announcement, it’s likely that the collaboration will be released sometime during Fall 2024. With the summer clothing season already well underway, the Fall 2024 window is likely the earliest which the collaboration could shoot for a full release in. However, a Winter 2025 release is also likely, either by nature of necessary delays or the companies choosing to take their time with the clothing line rather than rush it out.

Creator, author, and illustrator Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga series first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014. The series has been regularly serialized there since and is still ongoing today, but is actively progressing through its epilogue. Likewise, it’s expected that the manga will end sometime this year. 410 of the manga’s 425 currently released chapters have been compiled into 40 volumes.

Studio BONES’ television anime adaptation of Horikoshi’s original manga series first began in April 2016 with a single-cour first season. Seasons 2 through 6 have all been double-cour releases, as is the currently airing season 7. In addition to season 7, the franchise is also releasing its fourth anime film in Japanese theaters on August 2. The film is entitled You’re Next, and will be set in roughly the same time period as where the anime currently is.
