On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the My Hero Academia movie website revealed the character design for My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You're Next antagonist Dark Might. As revealed by the anime movie's trailer, the character is a movie-original and will make his first appearance in the same.

The story of My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You're Next is set after the events of My Hero Academia Season 3, i.e., after All Might won the fight against his arch-nemesis All For One and lost his One For All powers. Upon seeing his idol All Might saying the words, "You're Next," Dark Might jumps into action.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the official X account of My Hero Academia movie unveiled the character design for the fourth movie's antagonist Dark Might. While the character had already been unveiled through the movie's teasers and trailers, this is the first time the anime movie's official sources have released a character design sheet for the same.

The description of the character is as follows:

"A man suddenly appears in a Japan ravaged by an all-out war between heroes and villains. He bears a striking resemblance to All Might, the former “Symbol of Peace” and No. 1 hero."

If one were to compare All Might's character design with that of Dark Might's, both look too similar. The only minor differences one could notice would be in Dark Might's eyes and hair. Evidently, Dark Might's eyes have a dark outline around them, depicted through a shadow. The anime must have done the same to depict Dark Might's evil demeanor.

As for his hair, while on the surface it looks perfect, it does seem replicated. This is because, unlike All Might's hair which looked natural, Dark Might's hair looks like it was altered to have him look like the former No. 1 Hero. This can be noticed through the symmetric way Dark Might's hair stands and the comb over for the hair that needs to go behind.

My Hero Academia The Movie 4: You're Next is set to be released on Friday, August 2, 2024, in theaters in Japan.

How fans reacted to the character visual

Unexpectedly, fans weren't looking forward to the anime's fourth movie. Given that My Hero Academia Season 7 is airing right now, fans were much more concerned about the budget for the same, rather than a movie-original story that acts as a prequel to the current events in the anime.

"Can we please stop with the movies. PLEASE just put all the budget into the anime," one fan said.

"Scheduled movie in the middle of a season ? Who thinks of these things lol," another fan added.

Other fans were worried about who planned the anime and movie's release in such a way at BONES. Given that the anime's seventh season is set to have 31 episodes, the movie was bound to be released in the middle of the season.

"Dark Might?… whats happening to this show, theyre really running out of ideas," another added.

"YASSS! This is going to be so much! Let's goooo!," another fan said.

Meanwhile, other fans simply did not look like the lack of creativity shown by the executives at BONES. Naming a character Dark Might by being inspired by All Might seemed too boring to them and represented a lack of ideas.

That said, some fans were excited about the film's release and wished to watch the same in the theaters.
