My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next will bring on two new additional cast members, Mamoru Miyano and Meru Nukumi. The pair will respectively play original characters Giulio Gandini and Anna Scervino. Kenta Miyake will voice Dark Might but is not considered a new cast member as he has previously voiced All Might in each of the franchise’s anime productions.
Tensai Okamura is directing the film at Studio BONES, with returning staff members from the franchise’s previous anime projects, including scriptwriter Yosuke Kuroda, character designer Yoshihiko Umakoshi, and composer Yuki Hayashi. Original manga creator Kohei Horikoshi is both a general supervisor on the film and the original character designer.
As mentioned above, My Hero Academia The Movie: You’re Next will be set in roughly the same time period where the television anime is currently, emphasizing its being set during the collapse of the safe society. The film will see a mysterious giant fortress and a man who resembles All Might, the former Symbol of Peace, suddenly appear in this collapsed post-war society.
The franchise has previously had three films — July 2018’s Two Heroes, December 2019’s Heroes Rising, and August 2021’s World Heroes’ Mission. The franchise is also airing its seventh television anime season, which began on April 6 with a recap special. The new episodes of the seventh season then began releasing on Saturday, May 4, 2024.
Horikoshi’s original manga first premiered in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014, where it’s still ongoing and regularly serialized today. However, the manga is progressing through its epilogue and is expected to end sometime in the coming months.
