Wednesday, June 26, 2024, saw My Hero Academia officially launch a limited-time, in-game collaboration event with Asphalt 9: Legends, featuring themed cars, races, and more relating to the anime and manga series. The collaboration is set to run from today, June 26, 2024, through Wednesday, July 17, 2024, and will have both free-to-play and purchasable items for players to earn.
The 22-day collaboration with My Hero Academia will feature some of the series’ most recognizable and popular characters, such as protagonist Izuku “Deku” Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo. While the series’ villains do have a representative in the collaboration as well in the form of Himiko Toga, most of the characters included in the collaboration are do-gooders.
Emotes, car decals, and more to earn in My Hero Academia x Asphalt 9 collaboration
The My Hero Academia x Asphalt 9 collection has plenty of goodies, both free-to-play and purchasable, for fans to collect. There are a total of 18 cosmetic items, starting with two animated car decals inspired by Deku and Bakugo. These are followed by six static decals for Dark Deku (his vigilante costume), Ochaco Uraraka, Shoto Todoroki, Tsuyu Asui, the aforementioned Himiko Toga, and a “Group Decal” likely featuring all of these characters.
There are also eight chibi emotes and two club icons. Neither have been given additional details as of this article’s writing, but the eight chibi emotes will likely have one emote for each of the eight characters and costumes included in the collaboration. The club icons will likely be centered around hero and villain identifiers and artwork.
There will be 19 stages of collaboration available throughout the event, each rewarding players with the items mentioned above and more. Participants will receive their free Dark Deku decal as the collaboration’s Stage 1 reward. Finally, the collaboration will see a custom user interface come to the game, as well as several English dubbed voice lines from various characters in the anime series.
Asphalt 9: Legends is a 2018 racing game developed by Gameloft Barcelona and published by Gameloft. The release is the fifteenth major one in the overarching Asphalt series, and is available on everything from Android and iOS to PC, MacOS, and next-gen gaming consoles. Gameloft recently announced the Asphalt Legends Unite update for a July 17 release, which is also the same day the aforementioned collaboration concludes.
Creator, author, and illustrator Kohei Horikoshi’s original manga series first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014. The series has been regularly serialized there since and is currently in its final arc. Horikoshi recently confirmed in a message to fans that the series will end with its final chapter on Monday, August 5, 2024. A sequel to the series has not been announced as of this article’s writing.
