My Hero Academia: You're Next movie set to be the longest in the franchise
The My Hero Academia: You're Next movie is set to have a runtime of 110 minutes, which is just 10 minutes below the two-hour mark. Surprisingly, this runtime also makes the anime's fourth film the longest movie in the franchise.
In addition, as previously revealed, the movie will also be available to watch on IMAX, MX4D, 4DX, and Dolby Cinema. Such announcements suggest that studio BONES is doing its best to give fans the ultimate My Hero Academia cinematic experience.
Unfortunately, the film will only be released in Japan on August 2. Fans outside Japan may have to wait for a few more months. This is evident from the fact that the film has been announced to be released in North American theaters on October 11, 2024.
Fans from other regions may have to wait much longer. Hopefully, the announcements for the same will be made soon after the movie's theatrical release in Japan.
What is the plot of the My Hero Academia: You're Next movie?
The plot for My Hero Academia: You're Next movie is set in the aftermath of the Paranormal Liberation War, i.e., right before the Final War. Japan has fallen into societal collapse and chaos, which is when a mysterious giant fortress appears out of nowhere, swallowing up cities and people one after another.
Hence, Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Shoto Todoroki, and members of Class 1-A are set to fight for what remains against the new threat led by one called "Dark Might." As evident from the film's trailers, Dark Might has been inspired by All Might and believed that All Might's famous final words before retirement, "You're next," were meant for him.
