Friday, August 10, 2024, saw reports begin circulating regarding the recent Netflix series leaks, including the Dandadan anime, the Ranma ½ anime remake, the Terminator Zero anime, and others. Per the latest reports, Netflix has confirmed the origins of these leaked series and films and is “aggressively taking action” to have these leaks taken down from their online sources.

The leaks originally began with the first two episodes of the Dandadan anime and three of the first four episodes of the aforementioned Ranma ½ anime remake series. However, recent days have seen these leaks begin to affect several other Netflix anime series, as well as general live-action and animated films and series.

Dandadan anime and other Netflix leaks came from a compromised “post-production partner” for the company

As mentioned above, Netflix confirmed the origins of the leaks for the Dandadan anime and others. The company is quoted as stating the following:

“One of our post-production partners has been compromised and footage from several of our titles has unfortunately leaked online. Our team is aggressively taking action to have it taken down.”

In addition to the three anime series mentioned above, the entire Gekijoban Mononoke: Karakasa anime film leaked. The film’s leak is especially concerning, as it did not have an official international license as of the time of the leak’s release. Likewise, this may suggest that the service was planning on streaming the film internationally, with this surprise ruined by the leak.

Another animated series that was a part of the leaks includes Arcane season 2, which serves as the continuation of the story based on the League of Legends video game and its characters. Heartstopper season 3, Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld, Plankton: The Movie, and Spellbound have also been leaked online.

While the series doesn’t stream on Netflix, Re:ZERO season 3 episode 1 was also a part of the anime leaks, watermarked from France’s Japan Expo 2024, which took place in July 2024. In total, the entirety of the Dandadan anime, Terminator Zero anime, and Ranma ½ anime remake series have been leaked.

The Dandadan anime is set to have its English dub premiere at Anime NYC later this month on Sunday, August 24. Dandadan: First Encounter, a theatrical cut of the anime’s first three episodes, will begin hitting theaters in Asia on August 31. This will be followed by premieres in Europe on September 7 and North America on September 30.

The screenings will ultimately include over 50 countries and regions, including Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa. These additional screenings will be announced through mid-September 2024. The anime will officially premiere in Japan in October and will be streamed internationally by both Netflix and Crunchyroll as it airs weekly in Japan.
