Wednesday, September 18, 2024, saw One Piece Live Action season 2 begin streaming a behind-the-scenes video tour hosted by Jeff Ward, who plays Buggy the Clown in-series. The video was released as a part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, which is typically where major announcements and reveals for the platform’s most original popular series are made.
The One Piece Live Action 2 behind-the-scenes video was likewise posted by the official X accounts for both Netflix’s Geeked Week and the series overall. It runs for roughly three minutes and gives fans an introduction to the key staff members who help make the series look and feel the way it does.

The behind-the-scenes video for One Piece Live Action season 2 begins with Jeff Ward introducing himself, promising to show fans new sets, costumes, and more for season 2. Jeff then introduces costume designer Kerry Barnard, revealing that costumes for at least one thousand people are in the warehouse for season 2. Many of them are blurred out due to being new to the second season.
Creator and showrunner Matt Owens then appears, discussing how people will definitely be excited about all the brand-new looks. Hair and makeup designer Amanda Ross McDonald is then introduced, where even more season 2 material is blurred out, with Ward calling some of them “spoilers.” Props master Egbert Kruger is then introduced, where props such as a large syringe, Usopp’s sniper goggles, and the Gum-Gum Fruit can be seen.
Kruger emphasizes that all of the props are handmade and based on drawings from original manga creator Eiichiro Oda himself. Production designers Tom Hannam and Max Gotlieb are then introduced, and the Ipponmatsu Arms Shop, where Zoro will get his new swords, is previewed. The Twin Cape lighthouse is also previewed, as well as a brief discussion of the challenges of filming the snowy Drum Kingdom arc in sunny South Africa.
The video ends shortly thereafter with Jeff Ward saying the year of release for the second season, but it is hilariously bleeped as Ward pleads with others not to yell at him. While the video may not have been as informative as some fans liked, it’s nevertheless exciting and suggests that the second season is coming soon. It also gives a chance for significant staff members to shine, whose names and efforts may otherwise not be recognized by fans.
One Piece Live Action season 2 serves as the continuation of Netflix’s live-action adaptation of author and illustrator Eiichiro Oda’s original manga series. The first season premiered in August 2023 and was renewed for a second less than two weeks later, making it one of the fastest renewals in Netflix’s history.
