Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft animated show released a new trailer today (August 19) on X, confirming its premiere on October 10, 2024. This series is set to be part of the 2013-18 trilogy reboot of the video games that ended with the Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is created by Powerhouse Animation Studios in Austin, Texas, with Legendary Television and DJ2 Entertainment being the production companies. Tasha Huo serves as the showrunner.

The bulk of the trailer is focused on action sequences, displaying Lara in several settings and places all over the world while showing that she is haunted by a trauma she can't overcome. At this moment, there is no information available on how many episodes this series is going to have.

Netflix's Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft might be the latest project to come out but this is, by and large, one of the most important video game franchises of the last thirty years. Lara Croft has become a cultural icon and one of the most relevant and influential female video game characters of all time, to the point of defining this franchise as a whole.

While there have been multiple games, series, and even films starring actress Angelina Jolie, the main premise has always been that of archaeologist Lara Croft traveling across the world to find rare objects and artifacts. This usually leads to her crossing paths with a dangerous organization and having to go through a lot of ordeals to get the aforementioned objects, serving an epic action thriller for the audience.
