On January 1, 2025, Aniplex, one of the biggest production companies in Japan, announced that the New Irregular at Magic High School movie would be released in Winter 2026. The movie was announced after the conclusion of the third season.

The New Irregular at Magic High School movie is based on a light novel series written by Tsutomu Satou and illustrated by Kana Ishida. The light novel series concluded on September 10, 2020, with 32 published volumes (all released in Japanese and 23 in English). The series has received a sequel light novel series and a manga adaptation by different authors.

In the New Year greeting video posted on Aniplex's official YouTube channel, the supporting cast surrounded the protagonists. Each character was dressed as a snake since 2026 will be the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese zodiac.

The video ended by unveiling the Winter 2026 release window for the New Irregular at Magic High School movie. The movie will be released in Japan between January and March 2026.

The upcoming movie, titled The Irregular at Magic High School The Movie: Yotsuba Succession Arc, was announced on June 28, 2024, after season 3 episode 13 of the series. This sequel was animated by the animation studio 8bit (Blue Lock).

Kana Ishida, the illustrator of the series' source (light novel), is an anime industry professional known for their works in famous anime like Cowboy Bebop (In-between animator), Oreimo (chief animation director), and Spy x Family movie: Code White (sub-character designer).

The series has received three seasons of anime adaptations, each featuring the same voice cast. The main voice cast includes Yuuichi Nakamura (Umemiya from Wind Breaker), who portrays Tatsuya Shiba, and Saori Hanami (Rachel from Tower of God), who voices Miyuki Shiba.

As suggested by the upcoming movie's title, it will adapt the Yotsuba Succession Arc. The series' production team has yet to announce an official synopsis for the sequel movie. However, fans can expect the movie to continue the protagonists' journey as they strive for a better future.

The action-romance series is centered around the Shiba siblings, Tatsuya and Miyuki, who are enrolled in the First High School. However, they are separated because of the standards Tatsuya couldn't meet. So, to remove the discrimination between students, these two work to create a better world.
