Friday, October 11, 2024, saw the official X account for the FUUTO PI anime series begin streaming a two-minute clip of the new Kamen Rider anime film. The staff for the film also revealed a brand new “special visual” for the project, which was also shared via the FUUTO PI anime’s X account.
The new Kamen Rider anime film is fully titled Futo Tantei: Kamen Rider Skull no Shozo, which officially translates to FUUTO PI: Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull. The film will screen for a limited time in Japanese theaters starting on Friday, November 8, 2024. The film will tell the story of the beginning of the Kamen Rider W tokusatsu drama series.
New Kamen Rider anime film focuses on introducing characters in sneak peek
The sneak peek of the new Kamen Rider anime film opens with a boy climbing up a set of stairs before knocking on a door very demandingly. A man opens up and talks with him briefly before closing the door and seemingly telling him to leave. However, the boy is persistent and is allowed inside after returning a second time. Unfortunately, the sneak peek ends before showing anything else.
The two can be seen on the aforementioned special visual shared as well. The young boy is wearing essentially the same outfit, while the man is instead in a white three-piece suit. Behind them is a seemingly robotic figure in an action stance, who is wearing a hat similar to what the aforementioned man is wearing.
The new Kamen Rider anime film’s theme song is Niaru Otoko ni Nare, which translates to Become a Worthy Man. Kouji Kikkawa wrote, composed, and sang the song as Sokichi Narumi, whom he played in the original Kamen Rider W show. Narumi is also a central character in the new film, with Kenjiro Tsuda playing him in the new film. Returning cast to the film includes:
- Yoshimasa Hosoya as Shōtarō Hidari
- Kōki Uchiyama as Phillip
- Akira Sekine as Tokime
- Mikako Komatsu as Akiko Narumi
- Makoto Furukawa as Ryū Terui
- Daisuke Ono as Yukiji Bandō
The new cast includes Ayumu Murase as a young Shotari Hidari, Satomi Satou as the villain Saeko Sonozaki/Taboo Dopant, and Jun Fukuyama as the film’s original character Nagi Oshima. Yousuke Kabashima is returning to direct the film at Studio KAI, with Ayataka Tanemura also returning as assistant director.
Scriptwriter Tatsuto Higuchi, character designer and chief animation director Hidekazu Ebina, chief animation director Kiyoshi Komatsubara, and composers Kotaro Nakagawa and Shuhei Naruse are also returning to the franchise. Hideaki Tsukada also returns as executive producer, as does Akira Onodera as the supervisor. The main animators for the film include Kazuki Kimura, Ken Obata, Kenta Yokoya, and Shun Shibata.
