Thursday, September 19, 2024, saw significant information on New York Comic Con announced, pertaining to MAPPA’s Zenshu anime, Fairy Tail’s Hiro Mashima, and much more. The New York Comic Con is currently set to be held from Thursday, October 17, through Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the Javits Center in New York City, New York.
In addition to the Zenshu and Fairy Tail info, news pertaining to the Overlord anime franchise and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim anime film was announced. The creator behind The Beginning After the End webtoon, TurtleMe, will also be present at the convention. These events will all be taking place on various dates throughout New York Comic Con 2024.
New York Comic Con announces key anime presences from Zenshu, Fairy Tail creator, and more
Firstly, the premiere of the trailer for MAPPA Studios’ original television Zenshu anime series will be held at its industry panel during New York Comic-Con. The panel will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 6:30 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT). It was also confirmed alongside this news that Crunchyroll would stream the television anime series once it begins airing in Japan. As of this article’s writing, the series has no release window or date.
The Overlord anime franchise will have its presence via the hosting of director Naoyuki Ito and Madhouse producer Kentaro Hashimoto at a panel dedicated to the franchise’s upcoming film.
A new trailer for the Overlord: The Sacred Kingdom anime film also began streaming on Thursday. The film opens in Japan on September 20 with regular screenings, with IMAX screenings having begun on September 13. The film will screen in North America starting on November 8, 2024.
Crunchyroll will also be hosting Fairy Tail and Edens Zero mangaka Hiro Mashima during a “Spotlight on Hiro Mashima: Creator of Fairy Tail” panel during the convention. The panel will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 11:30 am EDT. It has been announced in advance that Mashima will specifically discuss the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest anime. The 100 Years Quest series began airing in the Summer 2024 season and will continue through Fall 2024.
Fellow author TurtleMe’s aforementioned panel will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 10:45 am EDT. The Beginning After the End’s creator will be hosted by Crunchyroll in collaboration with Tapas and Yen Press. As of this article’s writing, there is no additional information on what to expect from this panel.
Finally, Warner Bros. Pictures has also confirmed that a panel for The War of the Rohirrim anime film will be held. Stephen Colbert, of late-night and The Lord of the Rings superfan fame, will moderate.
Director Kenji Kamiyama will be in attendance, as will screenwriters Phoebe Gittins and Arty Papageorgiou, producers Philippa Boyens, Jason DeMarco, and Joseph Chou, and cast members Brian Cox, Gaia Wise, and Luke Pasqualino. The panel will be held on Friday, October 18 at 11 am EDT.
