NieR: Automata anime part 2 announces Summer 2024 release window and opening theme song with new PV and visual

NieR: Automata anime part 2 is set to premiere in July 2024, i.e., in Summer 2024 season, according to the anime's website and X (formerly Twitter) handle. The staff confirmed this news via a new promotional video and teaser visual on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Notably, the short clip has also revealed details regarding the anime's opening theme song and its artist.

NieR: Automata anime part 2 serves as a continuation of the first part, which premiered in 2023. The anime itself is an adaptation of the eponymous action role-playing game, developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix.

NieR: Automata anime part 2's new trailer and visual confirm the July 2024 premiere

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the official site and X account for the NieR: Automata streamed a new promotional video, titled Promotion File 11. According to the video, NieR: Automata anime part 2 will be released in July 2024, i.e., in Summer 2024.

The short clip begins with a young girl, recounting the duties of an Android. Following that, the trailer transitions to an action scene, featuring 2B and 9S, fighting alongside the machine life forms to save the earth.

While the video doesn't reveal major aspects of the plot, it nonetheless gives fans an idea about the upcoming installment. The PV ends with the ominous words from 2B. At the same time, the video confirms the anime's July 2024 release window.

The opening theme song for NieR: Automata anime part 2 has also been decided. According to the announcement, Japanese singer, LiSA, performs the opening song, Black Box.

Interestingly, the PV (Promotion File 11) previews the track's snippets. The official staff for the anime further revealed that Akita Hiromu of the Amazarashi composed the Black Box song's lyrics. He also wrote the lyrics of part 1's ending theme, Antimony.

Comments from both LiSA and Akita Hiromu have arrived on the anime's site and X handle. The Japanese singer mentioned how delighted she had been when Akita from Amazarashi entrusted her with the song, Black Box. Likewise, Akita-san is honored to be part of the franchise once again. He feels that LiSA's voice has done justice to the song.

Aside from the PV and the opening theme, the third visual for the NieR: Automata anime part 2 has been unveiled.

The illustration depicts the feet of a girl in red. The sci-fi anime's website revealed that the character designer and chief animation director, Jun Nakai, has drawn the visual.
