One Piece has been one of the biggest, most popular, and most recent anime series of the past decade. While it has maintained a huge fanbase supported by numerous collaborations, none have received official permission to promote and stream the series to a wider audience.
However, popular streamer IShowSpeed, known to many as Speed, recently announced that he had received clearance to stream One Piece episodes on his YouTube channel. While the series has done numerous collaborations in the past few years, this will be the first time an avid fan will officially stream it to a wider audience via YouTube.
IShowSpeed might push One Piece's popularity to a new level
On his recent YouTube stream, Speed announced that the producer of One Piece had given him the rights to stream the show on his channel. Speed has been a well-known fan of the series, with his social networking profiles often featuring illustrations of Luffy.
While he has not streamed anything directly linked to the series, he has frequently commented on it. His numerous reactions to the live-action adaptation and clips from the actual anime have also showcased his enthusiasm.
Although the series is considered the most popular on the planet, Speed officially streaming it on his channel could be one of the biggest boosts in its popularity. The series has been subjected to many such endeavors to increase its reach, and Speed being allowed to stream it on his channel might be another such effort. This follows its recent collaborations, most of which have been with sports associations.
One Piece recently collaborated with the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Rams, and Boston Red Sox, completing the trifecta of NBA, NFL, and MLB partnerships within a few years. The series also occupied the Vegas Sphere in June 2024 as part of its 25th-anniversary celebrations, adding to its recent spree of collaborations.
Speed's words remain self-proclaimed, as no official announcement regarding this has been made through One Piece's official channels. However, an official announcement may be made soon, considering this collaboration's potential impact on IShowSpeed's career and the series' popularity.
The anime is currently on a long break and will return in April 2025. A collaboration with Speed might help increase the hype surrounding the series' eventual return.
