One Piece chapter 1118's first spoilers confirm series' early July release schedule

Monday, June 17, 2024, saw the first spoilers for One Piece chapter 1118 be officially released, bringing with them some exciting news regarding the series’ early July release schedule. Per X (formerly Twitter) user and reputable series leaker @pewpiece (Pew), there is no planned break for the series following the upcoming official release.

In other words, One Piece chapter 1118 will officially release on Monday, June 24, 2024 in Japan, and will be immediately followed by chapter 1119 on Monday, July 1 in Japan. While an emergency on Oda’s part could delay the chapter, fans can rest assured that, as of right now, there are no plans for a series break following chapter 1118’s release.

While fans will seemingly see One Piece chapter 1118 followed up on with no planned delay, this unfortunately all but confirms that there will be a break week after chapter 1119’s release. Chapter 1119’s release would mark three chapters in as many weeks, which is typically the point at which Oda will take a planned week break historically speaking. While this doesn’t guarantee a break after chapter 1119, it does strongly suggest that one is coming for the series.

That being said, it’s likely that this post-1119 break week will come at the perfect time, likely punctuating the Straw Hats’ successful escape from Egghead Island. Chapter 1118 will see this escape process having officially begun, with a majority of those involved already having set sail or imminently doing so. Chapters 1118 and 1119 should likewise focus on those bringing up the rear in Zoro, Jinbe, Luffy, Dorry, Brogy, and Sanji, showing how they’ll get on the two ships.

While the Egghead arc may not be fully over by the end of chapter 1119, fans can at least expect the Straw Hats’ involvement in the Egghead Incident to conclude by this issue’s end. Focus could remain on Egghead via the Gorosei, who will likely either be shown dealing with Vegapunk York or continuing to fight the Iron Giant, also known as the Ancient Robot, if it gets back up.

One Piece chapter 1118 serves as the upcoming official release for author and illustrator Eiichiro Oda’s original manga series. The story first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga publication in July 1997, where it is still ongoing and regularly serialized today. However, the manga is confirmed to be in its Final Saga, with Oda’s latest comments suggesting the series will end sometime in the next few years.

Toei Animation began producing a weekly television anime adaptation in October 1999, which is still ongoing today and is also in the Final Saga. Netflix and Wit Studios are producing a remake titled THE ONE PIECE.
