With the series’ break week over, the spoiler process for the upcoming One Piece chapter 1128 has begun with confirmation that the issue will not be followed by a break week for the series. This news came on Monday, September 30, 2024, via reputable series leaker and news source, X user @pewpiece (Pew).
Likewise, this confirms that the manga will be releasing new chapters in both of the first two weeks of October 2024. One Piece chapter 1128 will come first on Monday, October 7 at 12 am Japanese Standard Time (JST), followed by chapter 1129 on Monday, October 14 at the same time.
One Piece chapter 1128 likely marks the start of series’ next three-chapter release run
While the latest information from Pew only concerns the immediate release schedule following One Piece chapter 1128, it’s likely that chapter 1129 will also not be followed by a break week. This would see the manga fall back into mangaka Eiichiro Oda’s typical three-on-one-off release schedule, which is the pattern that he typically maintains. The last four weeks of the series’ release schedule demonstrated this pattern exactly.
In turn, this would mean fans can expect chapter 1128, 1129, and 1130 throughout the first three Mondays of October. This would be followed by a break week on Monday, October 28, with the series then returning on Monday, November 4, with chapter 1131. However, this is speculative as of this article’s writing and assumes no unplanned breaks interrupt what seems to be a return to Oda’s favored cadence.
What further supports the idea that Oda will return to this approach is the fact that the Elbaf arc is just beginning. As one of the series’ most highly anticipated arcs, it would make the most sense to give fans as many chapters early on as possible. This would allow rapid progression through the early setup stages of the arc, which many are theorizing will be full of twists and turns based on recent mistakes/discrepancies.
One Piece chapter 1128, likewise, is expected to continue elaborating on what the current situation is for the separated Straw Hat crew. Nami and Usopp are seemingly the only real pair, with Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji all having red flags of varying sizes and concerns that suggest something is up. Luffy specifically is an egregious offender here, mixing up his move names, featuring changing weapon designs on his costume, and more.
Oda’s story first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 1997, where it has been published for its entire run thus far. The series was first adapted into a television anime by Toei Animation in October 1999. Netflix and Wit Studios are collaborating on a remake of the anime titled THE ONE PIECE. Netflix also produced a live-action adaptation of Oda’s manga, with the second and third seasons currently filming.
