One Piece FAN LETTER anime special will debut on October 20, 2024, One Piece's official X account announced on October 3, along with a key visual. A teaser trailer was also uploaded on YouTube, showcasing glimpses of the anime special that will be released later this month.

One Piece FAN LETTER is an upcoming anime special that was created to commemorate the anime adaptation’s 25th anniversary. Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus began its serialization in 1997, and Toei Animation took on the anime adaptation project. The first episode was released in 1999.

As mentioned, One Piece FAN LETTER will be released on October 20, 2024 at 9.30 am JST. Fans residing in Japan can access the anime special on Fuji TV and other local television networks. Additional broadcasting options will be available, and relevant information will be released as the release date of the anime special inches closer.

The key visual features an ordinary citizen looking at a board filled with criminals who are wanted by the Marines. These criminals are none other than the Straw Hat Pirates. The trailer gave fans glimpses of the novel and the broadcast details of the same.

The anime special will be directed by Megumi Ishitani, who has worked on the original One Piece series. Keisuke Mori will be responsible for both character design and animation. He has worked on the storyboarding process and as an assistant animation director in the original series.

Last but not least, the screenplay will be handled by Momoka Toyoda, who has worked on titles like Liar Liar and My Happy Marriage. It is important to note that One Piece FAN LETTER is not canonical to the original story. It follows the One Piece novel Mugiwara Stories, an original collection of stories written by Tomohito Osaki.

One Piece novel Mugiwara Stories is an interesting read for those who love the Straw Hat Pirates. The reason why this novel gained popularity was due to the shift in perspective when we take a look at the storytelling. Much like Eiichiro Oda’s series, the novel revolves around the Straw Hat Pirates.

However, the stories will be narrated from the perspective of people from various walks of life who aren’t particularly seeking the One Piece treasure. It gives unique insights into the individual members of the Straw Hat Pirates and their personalities when they’re not actively seeking the treasure.
