The One Piece anime recently entered a six-month hiatus that will last until April 2025. A difficult but necessary decision, the hiatus will give Toei Animation the time needed to work on the Egghead Arc’s adaptation while maintaining the same incredible visual quality that has distinguished the pirate-themed anime since the Wano Arc.

Waiting to return with the climax of the Egghead Arc, the franchise will keep fans engaged with a re-edition of the Fish-Man Island Saga. Compared to the original adaptation, which aired over a decade ago, the remastered version will feature improved visuals and shortened pacing. Set to be released on October 27, 2024, the first episode of the re-edition has been postponed to November 3, 2024, due to scheduling issues.

One Piece anime's Fish-Man Island Saga re-edition is delayed to November 3, 2024

On October 21, the franchise's staff announced the postponement of the remastered anime with a post on its official X account. Originally planned to debut on October 27, 2024, the first episode of One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga will air on November 3, 2024, marking the beginning of the re-edition's broadcast.

The reason for the delay is that the One Piece anime slot will be used for the live broadcast of the MLB World Series. Due to the overlapping schedules, the television network postponed the episode rather than delaying the MLB game since baseball is extremely popular in Japan.

So fans will have to wait one more week to enjoy the revamped version of the Fish-Man Island Saga anime adaptation. The wait will be worth it, as Toei Animation is determined to delight the viewers with a renewed and improved experience through the first adventure of the Straw Hat Pirates after the two-year time skip.

Finally reunited after two years of training in preparation for the New World, the Straw Hats leave Sabaody Archipelago to venture into the underwater world of Fish-Man Island. There, they confront and ultimately thwart the evil schemes of Hody Jones.

While the original adaptation of this tale consisted of 58 episodes, One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga will condense the same story into 21 installments, which will air weekly until the full-fledged anime resumes in April 2025.

In addition to the improved pacing, the re-edition will benefit from a massively enhanced graphic, with every scene being remastered using the same art style and shading used in the recent arcs. This includes more pronounced shadows and colors and even some cuts that have been redone from scratch. Sound effects have also been upgraded with the application of Dolby Atmos.

Based on the preview, the first episode of One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga will adapt the events featured in episodes 517 and 518 of the original anime. The post-timeskip Straw Hat Pirates appear in Sabaody and meet Silvers Rayleigh, Shakky, and Duval. While Brook holds his final concert, some impostors try to pass themselves off as the Straw Hats.

As the Marines – led by Dr Vegapunk's bodyguard Sentomaru – surround the area, the preview ends by teasing Monkey D. Luffy and Roronoa Zoro’s post-timeskip improvements. The remastered anime looks promising, and waiting for another week will only increase fans’ expectations for Toei Animation’s new project.
