On July 19, 2024, Deadline interviewed the officials of One Piece Live Action season 2 where they confirmed that Jamie Lee Curtis will not be playing the role of Dr. Kureha. The reason behind this was their conflicting schedules due to which they gave this role to another person.
One Piece Live Action started on August 31, 2023, with the series' author as its executive producer. Tomorrow Studios produced the first season and the series was streamed on Netflix. On September 14, 2023, the live-action series was renewed for a sequel, and on July 2, 2024, the official X of the series announced the start of production.

Marty Adelstein, the CEO of Tomorrow Studios, and Becky Clements, the President of ITV Studios were interviewed where they were asked about their future projects, one of which was One Piece Live Action season 2.
The key question about the interview was whether Jamie Lee Curtis will be playing the role of Dr. Kureha in the sequel of One Piece live-action.
Jamie Lee Curtis is an American actress and producer. Known for her roles in movies such as Elizabeth Solley The Fog, Megan Turner, and other. She has expressed her desire to play the role of Dr. Kureha. But as revealed in a recent interview, she will not be playing her roles due to conflicting schedules with the One Piece Live Action season 2.
The interviewer continued by asking whether someone else would be playing her character. The company president didn't reveal any specific name but he did confirm that the role of Dr. Kureha role will be played by an 'amazing person,' other than Jamie Lee Curtis.

The interviewer also asked about the production of the live-action action sequel. Clements replied by saying that they were in their third week and that rain was the biggest problem they were facing. But he also added that Eiichiro Oda's amazing source material keeps them going no matter what.
Clements also revealed that to counter the rain, they had to shift shooting to an indoor environment, but it didn't feel good, they plan to reshoot the scenes again once the weather settles down. The President also revealed that almost 900-1200 people were working on the series indicating that there will be no compromise on the quality.
Where the company president confirmed that Oda was heavily involved in the planning of the live-action sequel, he also confirmed that the One Piece Live Action season will take a while as the sequel is highly focused on VFX (virtual effects), hinting that Chopper could also appear in the sequel.
Lastly, the interviewer picked the past statement of the company president where he stated that the whole source material of the series is worth 6 seasons (1000+ chapters). The company president complied with his past statement and said that Matt Owens, the showrunner of the live-action, is brainstorming every day regarding it.
