Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime is set to premiere on October 5, 2024. This news was confirmed by the anime's official staff on Thursday, September 5, 2024, via a new promotional video. The short clip also revealed more cast, the main staff, and the anime's opening and ending theme songs.

Produced by Madhouse, Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime is an adaptation of the medieval drama manga series by Uoto. The mangaka launched the series in Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine in September 2020. The magazine serialized the manga til April 2022, publishing eight tankobon volumes.

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime shared the full promotional video to reveal that the medieval anime will premiere on October 5, 2024, on NHK at 11:45 PM JST with first two episodes. Once each episode is broadcast on NHK, Netflix and ABEMA will digitally distribute them.

The latest promotional video begins with a brutal scene, where a man is tortured for believing that Earth revolves around the Sun. The short clip then transitions to Rafal, a child prodigy, who meets Hubert and becomes fascinated by the heliocentric theory.

Notably, the PV previews the anime's opening theme song, Kaiju, performed by the Japanese rock band, Sakanaction, and the ending theme, Aporia, sung by Yorushika.

Details regarding the new cast members have arrived. Katsuyuki Konishi stars as Oczy, a champion fighter who's scared of looking at the sky. Yuichi Nakamura, famous for voicing Satoru Gojo from Jujutsu Kaisen, lends his voice to Badeni, a monk who seeks the purest knowledge. Saya Hitomi also joins the voice cast as Yolenta, an astronomy researcher.

These new voice actors will join the previously announced cast members, who are Maaya Sakamoto as Rafal, Sho Hayami as Hubert, and Kenjiro Tsuda as Novak. The official site for the Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime has shared comments from the new voice actors, who are excited to be part of the franchise.

Besides the additional cast, the anime has revealed the names of the primary staff members. Kenichi Shimizu handles the directorial duties at Madhouse, with Shingo Irie supervising the scripts. Masanori Shino is credited as the character designer, while Kensuke Ushio is the music composer. Kisuke Koizumi is enlisted as the sound director.

Based on Uoto's manga, Orb: On the Movements of the Earth anime is set in the fifteenth century, where the geocentric theory reigned supreme. Those who believed in the heliocentric theory were ostracized, abused, and tortured.

However, Rafal, a child prodigy develops a keen interest in the theory, when he learns the truth from his mentor, Hubert. The child's inquisitive mind propels to embark on a journey to discover his mentor's research.
