Thursday, September 5, 2024, saw an official website open for the Maebashi Witches anime, revealing its April 2025 release window and beginning to stream its first promotional video. The website also revealed the main staff for the series, a key visual, and the opening theme song for the series, which will be performed by the anime’s main cast.
The series will be an original television anime production from Sunrise Studios, meaning that there is no source material from which the anime will be adapted. Sunrise is likewise credited for the original work of the Maebashi Witches anime, with the television anime series itself being considered the “original work” in this context.
Maebashi Witches anime confirms production, April 2024 release window, and more with first PV
The Maebashi Witches anime's main cast includes Sakura Kasuga, Hinano Sakikawa, Rena Motomura, Haruka Minami, Honami Momose, and Tomokazu Sugita. Kasuga plays Yuina Akagi, a cheerful high school freshman who loves cameras and taking “emotional” photos. Sakikawa plays Azu Niisato, a girl who loves fashion and cosmetics. Motomura plays Kyoka Kitahara, a wealthy girl from a wealthy family who attends the prefecture’s top high school.
Minami plays Choco Mitsumata, a cheerful mood-maker girl, while Momose plays Mai Kamiizumi, a realist girl who is also conscious of what others think about her. Finally, Sugita plays a creature known as Keroppe, a mysterious familiar spirit who initially scouted the aforementioned five girls to become apprentice witches. It is expected that additional cast will be announced as the anime’s April 2025 release window draws nearer.
The above cast members, save for Sugita, will be performing the opening theme song Sugosugi Maebashi Witches!, or Super Amazing Maebashi Witches!. The five girls are collectively known as the Maebashi Witches in-series and will likely be credited as such. Producer Tsunku wrote the opening theme song’s lyrics, with TORIENA composing the song.
Sunrise Studios is credited for the Maebashi Witches anime’s original work, with Junichi Yamamoto directing the series at Bandai Namco Filmworks and PROJECT MBW studios. Erika Yoshida is in charge of series scripts, while Nozomi Tachibana is designing the characters for animation based on Inami Yu’s original character designs. Additional staff includes:

The Maebashi Witches anime serves as a coming-of-age story about five high school girls living in Maebashi city in Gunma Prefecture. Protagonist Akagi lives an ordinary but unsatisfying life until being scouted by Keroppe to become one of the “Maebashi Witches” with four other girls. A room closet is then connected to a magical flower shop, where the girls sing, dance, and grant others’ wishes.
