Wednesday, November 20, 2024 saw Pokémon Horizons season 2 officially reveal its Netflix release date of Friday, February 7, 2025. The news was officially announced on Wednesday by The Pokémon Company. The official full title for the second season is Pokémon Horizons: The Series—The Search for Laqua.
Alongside the announcement, The Pokémon Company also began streaming a new English-dubbed trailer for Pokémon Horizons season 2. The trailer focused primarily on dual protagonists Roy and Liko, as well as their various allies and Pokémon, including the 9th-generation starters from the Scarlet and Violet video games.
Pokémon Horizons season 2 hits Netflix less than a year after the first
Pokémon Horizons season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix on February 7, 2025, and will follow the Netflix premiere of the first season’s fourth part. The fourth and final part for the first season will begin streaming on Netflix on Friday, November 22, 2024. This fourth and final part is expected to release in a batch of episodes, as were the three parts before it, rather than air new episodes weekly over several weeks.
The anime is currently progressing through its fourth arc in Japan, which is different from the fourth part of the first season which will begin streaming on Netflix this Friday. The episodes coming to Netflix on Friday are instead from the second arc overall, The Sparkling of Terapagos. The fourth arc currently airing weekly every Friday in Japan is instead titled Rayquaza Rising. The arc begins at the anime’s 68th episode, with the 74th episode airing in Japan this Friday.
Pokémon Horizons season 2, which will stream on Netflix in February 2025, begins with the Terastal Debut Arc, which begins with the 46th episode of the series overall. The episodes coming to Netflix this Friday will close out season 1 and The Sparkling of Terapagos Arc.
Saori Den is directing the series, with Daiki Tomiyasu serving as creative director. Dai Sato is overseeing the series scripts, while Tetsuo Yajima is the action director, Rei Yamazaki is the character designer, and Kyoko Ito is the sub-character designer. Masafumi Mima is the sound director, while Conisch is composing the music. Minori Suzuki voices Liko, while Yuka Terasaki voices Roy. The series is the franchise’s first without Ash Ketchum as its protagonist.
In addition to featuring Liko and Roy as completely new dual protagonists, starters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly from the Scarlet and Violet video games also star. Franchise mascot Pikachu remains represented by Captain Pikachu, a Pokémon who fights alongside the pair with his partner, Pokémon professor Friede. The anime premiered in April 2023 in Japan, airing on Fridays at 6:55 PM Japanese Standard Time. The anime premiered on Netflix in March 2024.
