On December 31, 2024, the online Japanese manga website Manga Hack posted a new chapter for Ranking of the Kings manga, marking its return after almost two years. The manga went on hiatus in April 2023 for unknown reasons.

Ranking of the Kings is a web manga series that became the talk of the town after its anime adaptation was announced and animated by Wit Studio. After the boom of the first season, a sequel was announced, followed by the announcement of an anime film. The series has 18 volumes in publication (all in Japanese) and is available to read online on Bookwalker (English).


Ranking of the Kings manga returns from a two-year hiatus on December 31, 2024

Ranking of the Kings manga received a new chapter release, chapter 232, on December 31, 2024. This was followed by a new chapter every day since then, marking the manga's return after almost 2 years (21 months). The manga went on hiatus in April 2023 for unknown reasons and returned without any prior notice.

The manga series is written and illustrated by Sousuke Tooka. The manga author quit his job as a salaryman to become a mangaka and Ranking of the Kings manga is his only work.

His manga series received fame after it was picked by the animation studio Wit Studio (Kabanari of the Iron Fortress) for an anime adaptation. Tokyo Foundation of the Deaf supervised the sign language used in the anime (for the protagonist).

The series' voice casting includes Bojji voiced by Minami Hinata (Serfort Will from Wistoria: Wand and Sword), Kage by Ayumu Murase (Ginrou from Dr. Stone), Daida by Yuuki Kaji (Eren Yeager from Attack on Titan), and Hiling by Rina Satou (Senjumaru from Bleach TYBW).

The staff members for the anime adaptation include Justin Cook (producer of Serial Experiment Lain) as one of the producers, Tomomi Kawaguchi (script writer for Spy x Family) as one of the scriptwriters, Mayuko (music composer of Cells at Work) as the music composer, and Masaki Kawake (key animator of Mob Psycho 100 II) as one of the character designers.

The manga is an action-adventure series centered around Bojji, a deaf and powerless prince of his kingdom, who aims to become the strongest King in the world. However, people look down on him due to his disabilities, due to which Bojji doesn't have much self-confidence.

One day, Bojji crosses paths with Kage, a member of a clan of assassins, who understands Bojji's struggles and motivates him to strive for a higher aim. Together, these two work to try their best to make Bojji the next King of his kingdom.
