Rurouni Kenshin season 2 has announced the release date, uploaded a new trailer, revealed additional cast members, and also provided fans with new character visuals at Aniplex Online Fest 2024. The panel consisted of Makoto Furukawa (Makoto Shishio’s voice actor) and Soma Saito (Kenshin Himura’s voice actor).
Rurouni Kenshin season 2 will be released on October 4, 2024, at 12:55 am JST (stylized as October 3 at 24:55 JST). The panel discussed various aspects of the show and the voice actors provided fans with a little bit of insight into the production stages of the show. The panel also revealed the opening theme song for Rurouni Kenshin season 2.

As aforementioned, season 2 of Rurouni Kenshin will be released on October 4, 2024 at 12:55 am JST. Fans residing in Japan can watch the broadcast of the episode on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block. Amazon Prime Video will be streaming the episode at 12 noon JST, as per the announcement. Other streaming services will also be available in Japan.
However, platforms aside from Amazon Prime Video in Japan will begin streaming the episodes on October 6, 2024 onwards. Global audiences can watch the English-subtitled version of the episode on Crunchyroll. The opening theme song is titled Chained and it will be performed by Tatsuya Kitani and natori.
Trailer, key visual, and additional cast members
The latest trailer of the anime series emphasized Makoto Shishio, who seems to be the prime antagonist in the story. Following this, the trailer also poses a conundrum that Kenshin is currently facing.
However, he realized that all the answers to his questions could be found in Kyoto. It also introduced new characters, some of whom are minor antagonists, while others have taken on a support role.
The key visual for Rurouni Kenshin season 2 featured Kenshin at the center, while other characters like Yumi Komagata, Anji Yukyuzan, and Cho Sawagejo were in the background. At the top of the key visual, we could see Makoto Shishio, who is the main antagonist of the Kyoto Disturbance arc.
The panel also announced additional cast members. Kenshin will be voiced by Soma Saito while Makoto Shishio will be voiced by Makoto Furukawa. Haruka Tomatsu will voice Yumi Komagata, Wataru Hatano will voice Anji Yukyuzan and Nobuhiko Okamoto will voice Cho Sawagejo. Additionally, Seijuro Hiko will be voiced by Yuichi Nakamura.
