On Wednesday, November 13, 2024, the official website and X account for Sakamoto Days anime shared the main promotional video and a new key visual to reveal the anime's release date, January 11, 2025. The short clip also revealed and previewed the anime's opening theme song. The anime is set to run for two cours, with the second installment slated to release in July 2025.
Produced by TMS Entertainment, Sakamoto Days anime serves as an adaptation of Yuto Suzuki's Japanese manga series of the same name. Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump has been serializing the action manga since November 2020, with 19 tankobon volumes published thus far.
Sakamoto Days anime's main trailer confirms the January 11, 2025, release date and two-part run
The official staff unveiled the main promotional video on Wednesday, November 13, 2025, to confirm that Sakamoto Days anime will begin its broadcast on January 11, 2025, at 11 pm JST on TV Tokyo and other affiliated networks. The second cour will start in July 2025 and air its episodes every Monday. The anime will be distributed on Netflix and other digital platforms for international fans.
The latest promotional video for Sakamoto Days anime features Sakamoto's peaceful day life, following his family motto, "Don't Kill People." However, trouble finds Sakamoto, who has a bounty of one billion yen on his head. The PV shows the assassins after the titular hero.
Besides Sakamoto, the trailer features, Sin Asakura, Aoi, Hana, and others. Notably, the main trailer previews the anime's opening theme song, Hashire Sakamoto (Run Sakamoto) by Vaundy. The anime's official site has also shared a comment from Vandy, which reads as follows when translated into English:
"I write Run SAKAMOTO" hoping that the song would convey the 'overwhelming strength that no one can catch up with' of the main character, Sakamoto, who everyone is chasing after."
Vaundy has also mentioned that he loves the original manga and its powerful illustrations which draw people in before they even know it. The singer has also commented on the manga's story development and the "addictive gap" between everyday life and the killing spree.
Aside from the PV, the official staff has unveiled a key visual. The illustration depicts the owner, Taro Sakamoto, Sin Asakura, Aoi Sakamoto, Lu Xiaotang, Heisuke Mashimo, and others, gathered against the backdrop of the Sakamoto store.
Cast and staff for Sakamoto Days anime
Tomokazu Sugita stars as Taro Sakamoto, while Nobunaga Shimazaki voices Shin Asakuma, a former hitman and a great admirer of Sakamoto. Ayane Sakura plays the role of Lu Xiaotang, the daughter of a Chinese mafia boss. Ryota Suzuki stars as Heisuke Mashimo, a talented sniper, while Nao Toyama voices Aoi Sakamoto, Taro's wife.
Natsuki Hanae has joined the voice cast for Sakamoto Days anime as Nagumo, a member of ORDER, a special task force. Saori Hayami plays Osaragi, a new member of the ORDER. Taku Yashiro lends his voice to Shishiba, another member of the ORDER, who uses a nail hammer as his weapon.
Masaki Watanabe directs the series at TMS Entertainment, with Taku Kishimoto supervising the series' scripts. Yo Moriyama is credited as the character designer. Yuuki Hayashi is composing the music for the anime, while Yukiko Maruyama is the art director.
Based on Yuto Suzuki's manga, Sakamoto Days anime centers on Taro Sakamoto, the ultimate assassin, whom everyone feared and admired. However, one day he falls in love with a certain woman and retires from his business. He puts on weight, bids adieu to his past life, and begins to run a private shop. That said, he doesn't forget his old skills, whenever his family is in danger.
