Friday, May 17, 2024 saw a Sakamoto Days anime officially listed for a general 2024 release window on Netflix, discovered via the May issue of License Global. License Global is an online publication which keeps track of licensing registrations, hence why they were able to discover Netflix’s apparent ordering of the anime series.

This information originally came from X (formerly Twitter) user @baguetteZero (Baguette), whose information was then verified by other noteworthy leaks accounts like @MangaReporter.

While Netflix has not officially announced their Sakamoto Days anime in any capacity, this information being cited from License Global by typically reputable sources suggests the info to be accurate.

The Sakamoto Days anime would serve as the official television anime adaptation of author and illustrator Yuto Suzuki’s original manga series of the same name. Suzuki originally launched his manga in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in November 2020, where it is still ongoing and regularly serialized today.

The series follows eponymous protagonist Taro Sakamoto, an ex-hitman who was unrivaled and earned legendary status in the underworld. However, he one day fell in love and decided to retire, start a family, and a convenience store business.

Now overweight and enjoying retirement, Sakamoto finds the underworld still chasing after him, forcing him to fight in order to protect his family, business, and new life.
